Jenison High School is a school that takes belonging seriously and it ensures that you feel you have no better place to be, and in my case that is true. I couldn’t have asked for a better high school experience! The faculty is very supportive and very determined to ensure each student reaches their greatest potential and that they are set up for success in their lives after high school, all while teaching students the importance of core values and valuable life lessons.
Jenison High School is a great school district, it lacks in being an athletic school but thrives in its arts and music. I would know I was apart of the Jenison Marching band for five years, winning state all five years. Truly that was the best experience I had all of High school, I made great friends that will stay with me for life. As well as I have learned responsibility and leadership that will make me further grow as a student and as a person of the future.
Overall I had as good of a high school experience as I think I could have. I loved all of my teachers, they always made me feel like I could come to them with questions or concerns.
Jenison Senior High School was one of the pinnacle learning moments in my learning career. Their dedication to high academic achievements helped me go on to seek further learning opportunities in a 4-year college degree.
I attended Jenison Public Schools from K-12 grade. I had great support throughout my education and schooling and am grateful to have had the opportunity to be a wildcat. In my experience at the senior high school I have been surrounded my useful resources and staff to help prepare me for my future. If it wasn't for my counselors I would not have even known about this scholarship. Overall, the staff and administration have helped me excel and make the most of my education. One thing I would like to see change is the athletic programs. As an athlete it felt like we weren't treated the same and given the same resources to succeed compared to the fine arts and music programs. Taking all things into consideration, Jenison Public Schools and Jenison Senior High School have been amazing places for me to learn and continue my education.
There were ups and downs. The school in general with its atmosphere and teachers are nice. However, the club activites are not diverse and and ethnicity is definitely not diverse.
It's been pretty good for the most part. I like most of the faculty and everyone involved. I would like better sports teams/coaching so that sporting events are more fun to go to. I would like the school to listen to their students about things that are concerning them. Overall, i don't have too many negative things to say, i have had a positive experience.
Best: JHS has an amazing theatre department and music background. There band just performed in the macys day parade. Also very supportive and kind teachers.
Worst: Incredibly racist town with close minded views

Many kids at school are not very open to different kinds of people. It is a very white school. The teachers are very well educated and they prepare us for college well. The school is old but the updated facilities are good. We have free lunch in Michigan, so the lunch is decent. Our music and arts curriculum is fantastic, we even have our own building just for this reason. We do not have very good sports teams besides water sports or bowling. There are a lot of clubs and activities available as well as many extracurriculars. We have a very understanding administration and they do a great job. The counselors are super knowledgeable and helpful for any questions someone might have. We are growing in terms of having resources for special needs, mental health, and growing of diversity. I would say the school is pretty safe, but not all areas are. There are a lot of unique classes offered, like LINKS, DECA or CAL Tutor. It is easy to get around the school.
Jenison High School is an amazing environment I have been blessed to be a part of. As a child of a teacher, I have grown up in this district and have been shown nothing but love and support. The teachers here are extremely friendly and devoted to bettering students' lives. The counselors at this school do a great job with college prep and informing you about deadlines and instructions regarding college applications and financial aid. While this school is not very diverse, in recent years, the administration has made it a priority to implement the celebration and inclusion of different cultures and races. We have had some setbacks in school history in recent years but it is evident that administration is listening to student voices for a change and digging deep into solving issues. As a senior, I feel very academically and socially prepared for college next year and have made the most incredible memories. Go Cats!
I have been a student at Jenison Senior High School for a few years and overall I have had a good experience. I love all the class options there are and I think that the school itself is a pretty great school. However, if I could change one thing about the school I would definitely change the size of our school. The hallways are very cramped and I get pushed around going from class to class.
I attended Jenison schools my whole life and my experience was pretty average. I got a good education, met my best friends, and played volleyball all throughout high school. The best part of my experiences were the classes I was able to take with good teachers. The worst part is the lenience of allowing anyone into any bathroom, meaning boys who identify as girls enter the women's bathroom.
I think that the best thing about Jenison Senior High School are that the teachers are very helpful and make sure that you are ready for college. Many of the teachers are understanding and willing to do a lot to help you improve yourself and your grades. Something that Jenison Senior High School isn’t very good at is being diverse. I know that Jenison is mostly a white community that has mostly christian but the students can be unkind to people of different races or religion. I would like that the students to know more about different cultures and religion so that they are more understanding.
I had a great time at Jenison, the community is very welcoming. The music program is phenomenal and the facilities are amazing. Recently Jenison has built an indoor facility that features a weight room and a 70 yard football field. If you ask me Jenison is on the rise and should be on anyone's radar.
Academically I could not have been more prepared for college. In combination with the high school classes and AP's I have been more prepared than my peers.

Jenison High School excels in the arts. If you are interested in band, choir, orchestra, or theatre, Jenison is an amazing school. Our sports aren't always the best, as we are at the bottom end of the OK Red conference, but certain sports are very successful such as swim and dive, water polo, and softball. Teachers are helpful, and there is a lot of different class choice. Counselors are willing to meet with students often to plan and receive the help they need. School activities are fun, and the student council does a good job at planning and organizing events such as assemblies, school dances, and more.
I would like to see the diversity change. Jenison is a predominantly white school and they make it known that it is one. I want a more accepting non judging culture at Jenison. The views are very conservative and judgmental. Individuality should be promoted more. But the teachers there are incredible all of my teachers were great and I loved them.
I love my friends and opportunities I have been given and ten great teachers who helped me achieve my goals. Things I don’t like is there was a few bullying things I would hear about and see and people really aren’t the greatest. For example, someone always had to be better in situations. Nothing ever comes from that except toxicity between people.
