Jeffrey Dean Morgan teases his involvement with Invincible through a new post that heavily hints at the actor being cast in the series. Prime Video's Invincible follows the story from the award-winning comic book of the same name, which debuted in 2003 and was written by Robert Kirkman. Kirkman is also the creator of The Walking Dead, which became a global phenomenon after the AMC show's release, which starred Morgan as the foul-mouthed villain/anti-hero Negan. Now, it appears that Morgan and Kirkman are bound to reunite for the superhero series Invincible.

Morgan shared on Instagram a photo of himself with Invincible compendiums 2 and 3, alongside a caption that hinted at the actor doing his research on the story, with a "thanks to Robert Kirkman."

Invincible season 1's cast included many actors from The Walking Dead, which means Morgan's possible involvement in season 2 would be in line with how Kirkman operates the show. Even Invincible's main character, Mark Grayson, is voiced by one The Walking Dead star, Glenn actor Steven Yeun. However, Morgan's post still has an ambiguous message. He does not specify nor confirm his casting in the animated show, just leaving the comment, "Doing a little reading."

Who Jeffrey Dean Morgan Could Play In Invincible?

Invincible season 2 has a couple of main villains already revealed in the form of Angstrom Levy and Conquest. If Morgan's casting is happening, he could play the latter, and Conquest's fight with Mark might beat Omni-Man's. That is a high bar to surpass, given the groundbreaking final fight between father and son in the Invincible season 1 finale, but where Omni-Man showed some restraint in the end by letting Mark live and flying off into space alone, Conquest would have pummeled the teenager. Conquest is a raging Viltrumite from the comics, who has eternal bloodlust and no regard for any life. An intense villain like that could be right around Morgan's acting range.

As Morgan's on-screen talents largely play in his favor in portraying villains, anti-heroes, and other morally gray characters, the actor is more likely taking on one of the Invincible comics' most famous villains. One of those villains who have yet to be introduced in the show is Thragg. The villain's possible Invincible season 2 introduction could instantly shift the show's axis since Thragg is one of the major threats in the Invincible comic book universe, if not the biggest. The character is Invincible's nemesis and the most powerful villain Mark ever fought in the comics. With Morgan's Negan playing a similar kind of role to Rick Grimes' group on The Walking Dead, the actor could easily bring the same dynamic to Thragg.

Another possible choice, although less likely, is that Morgan was actually teasing his casting for the Invincible live-action movie, and not the animated series. Morgan has been fancast in the role of Omni-Man ever since the news about an Invincible live-action movie being in development became public. Invincible season 2 could redeem Omni-Man so that Mark gets help to fight the new villains. This move would also put the character on the path that Morgan's Negan went through in The Walking Dead's final few seasons, which would make him a perfect choice to suit up as Omni-Man for the Invincible movie.
