Hello my guitar-loving friends,

I assume some of you must be a great fan of Jeff Beck as I am myself. I have spent the last week grieving about having suddenly lost half of my life and I'm thinking about building a Yardbirds-era Esquire replica. I went to see it and Clapton's Fool SG in NY at the Met just before the COVID struck and took an awful lot of pics so I'm ready to make one for myself.

Here are some of my Jeff guitars (yes, I'm that kind of guy). The Telegib was my first building project back then, and I love it. I pretty much stuck to Duncan's detailed description, apart from the very large Broadcaster-style neck. The Oxblood is a monster, I'll never part with it. The Beck Strat I could live without. Just not my kind of Strat, I’m an older guy with very classic tastes, so it's too "modern" for me to really bond with. I bought it purely because it's the same as the one in the Beckology box set. I have loads of Strats that suit my style better, including those I built. ;-)

I thought maybe it'd help lift you up a bit if you're half as depressed as I am, my guitar friends. And now the Croz has decided to call it quits as well…Image

Thanks Hesh, you and I are brothers in crime. You're very welcome to drop by and play them any time you’re in Quebec City again.

Just to make sure things are clear to everyone, the Oxblood is a Gibson, the Beck Strat is a Fender and the Telegib was my first build because I couldn’t buy one. This very guitar spawned an entirely new career for me, much like what happened to our valuable Mr Breakstone.

I suppose Hesh is reacting more to the pics of my actual builds I sent to him…

Exactly you have amassed a collection of what your heroes used to play the tunes we love and that's exactly what I have been doing here too. Like you all of mine are to be played not ignored and my friends come over and we jam with them. So I love to see this we are reliving our youth and I can completely relate.

The tipping point for me was when I built the Telegib and finally nailed the tone I was after for this one song. It is downright silly, I know. It's a disease, as they say.
