Kendrick had a huge game, scoring 26 points and leading his team to an upset victory over Harvest Prep. Kendrick was getting into the lane and finishing with his right hand almost every time at the rim and in the floater range area. Kendrick also knocked down a couple mid-range jumpers, all with his right hand. In the pick and roll, Kendrick made a few pocket passes that set up his teammates nicely. After dominating the game early, Harvest Prep tried face guarding Kendrick, but that didn’t stop him. Kendrick is one of the top freshmen in the state and continued to show why he’s regarded like that on Saturday.
Reynoldsburg was a little shorthanded on Saturday, playing without their 2025 studs, and Bowens took the opportunity to dominate the interior scoring. Bowens wasn’t trying to do too much out there but he used his size and finished over defenders early and often. Bowens scored almost every point right at the rim, showing his physical dominance at a young age. I’ll be interested to see how Bowens develops over the next few years, seeing if he continues to grow or expand his game. Regardless, Bowens was one of the most impactful players on the court and played a big role in Reynoldburg coming just one point short of the upset.
Stavroff was money for the Celtics, knocking down a handful of 3-pointers en route to leading the game in scoring. Stavroff hit an and-1 3-pointer that was the highlight of the game in the second quarter that helped build some momentum for his team. A sniper from spot-up situations, Stavroff played well off dribble drive action from his teammates, being shot ready off the catch. This was my second Dublin Jerome game of the season and the second time Stavroff shot the lights out from long range.
Emmanuel Christian dominated an overmatched Walnut Ridge squad and Easter was sensational throughout. Knocking down 3-pointers off the bounce and finishing at the rim, Easter was getting what he wanted. The highlight of the game was when Easter nutmegged a defender in the backcourt to avoid a trap along the baseline. Easter is having a monster high school season but the true test will come this spring and summer against top competition from around the country, that will determine where Easter falls in Ohio’s stacked 2025 class.
I figured I would include Royal and Swain together because this was the battle that fans came to see, the top two prospects in Ohio’s senior class in our rankings and most national recruiting websites, the pair put on a show for the hometown crowd. Royal and his squad got the victory and in the second half it was steals and transition dunks that put the Tigers in control. At the other end of the court, Swain had some flash moments with the ball in his hands that showed how special of a prospect he is. When Swain dribbled out of a double team and then euro-stepped past a defender for an easy finish. The environment around the game was spectacular and both star players put on a show in a competitive game.
