HONORABLE MENTION: Ego Nwodim
We can’t remember the last time a Saturday Night Live skit sparked as much joy in us as last weekend’s “Lisa From Temecula” sketch, and it’s not just because practically every cast member, as well as host Pedro Pascal, broke character at some point during the the four-plus minute sendup. Much of the credit for the high guffaw quotient goes to the satire’s titular star, Ego Nwodim, whose commitment to the insanely silly premise — i.e. Lisa likes her steak so well done that the restaurant table can barely withstand the impact of her “sawing” the meat, sending food flying — never wavered. In fact, as the situation became more ridiculous, Nwodim dug her heels in further, feeding off of the chaotic energy swirling around her and nimbly improvising her way through every unforeseen curveball (while mostly maintaining a straight face). Now pardon us while we go watch the uproarious skit for a 20th time.
James was amazing this week! Well deserved!
James nails it every week. If only everyone could have a Gary in their life.
🍍🍍🍍
When I watched A Million Little Things this week, I thought “Wow, Rodriguez deserves Performer of the Week.”. Glad to know TVLine agreed
Spot on about Chyler Leigh in the 4 episode of Hallmarks 10-episode “The Way Home.” Breaks your heart in all the right ways. Please keep your eye on this show!
I don’t watch this series but James Roday Rodriguez is one of the best actors and no one talks about him enough. Plus he seems like a super friendly person in real life. He needs more praise.
I couldn’t wait for the season 5 opener and Yesss Rodriquez was the one who just made it perfect. We have seen everyone on the show go through ” a million little things “. Our Gary indescribably do poignant and real. Yes he is known for turning lemons into lemonade this episode beautifully showed the many aspects of his personality often times hidden. Bravo and hooray for keeping us all in!
I saw 3 of the 4 listed and they are all spot on! James was fantastic, Lisa from Temecula skit I laughed so hard I cried, and Chyler too, was spot on. She is a great actress and I love this the new show, The Way Home.
James Roday Rodriguez is the whole show for me. His acting is phenominal.
Chyler Leigh is doing phenomenal acting on The Way Home (as is the entire rest of the cast.) Everyone should definitely be watching this extraordinary new drama. The reimagined present and future of the Hallmark channels is looking very bright!
As a long time fan of Criminal Minds I didn’t think the show could get any better. But since it moved from broadcast to streaming, I’ve been proven wrong. The whole new season was absolutely brilliant. And Ms. Sanchez’s performance was just one of several amazing moments in the finale. One of my favorite moments was when Alvez had to talk Garcia down when she was fretting over the fact that she might be able to save either Ryan or Rossi. “Here, have some tea. It’s hot.” Fantastic!
Jason Segal gave a tour de force performance on this week’s Shrinking. Trying to keep it cool as he learned his daughter had had sex with their neighbor’s son, then very much not keeping it cool when he sees his neighbor, and cringing as the boy tries to apologize. Segal has been fantastic on this show, and this week he was excruciatingly funny.
Great choices. I love Roday Rodriguez, and the Lisa from Temecula sketch was hilarious. Ego is fantastic! Chyler Leigh is also very good at those emotional scenes.
You know that’s right 🍍
C’MON SON! 🍍
Chyler is phenomenal in all she does, I have yet to see a role of hers where she doesn’t deliver. She should be way more celebrated than she is!
I laughed so hard after last weeks SNL skit with Ego. She is awesome. I couldn’t keep a straight face through that skit.
when I was a kid, I was out to dinner with my Dad. A man in the booth right behind my Dad kept asking the waitress for a sharper knife to cut his steak – never aksing for a steak that wasn’t over cooked. Eventually, as the waitress walked past our booth, my Dad yelled out “Do you have any more knives??” This skit brought back that funny memory of my Dad.
