The murder of Tyre Nichols at the hands of five Memphis police officers who repetedly pepper sprayed and beat him continues to spark outrage around the world, specially since the bodycam footage was released by authorities on Friday.
Tennessee prosecutors announced murder charges against all five officers, who have since been fired, and now Jamal Dupree,Nichols brother, told FOX 40 News that he hopes that the cops die.
"You want my truth?... I hope they die,"
He then went on to express that he still doesn't think they'll pay for what they did, adding they could still get away with it.
"It doesn't really mean nothing at this time until they're actually found guilty for the actual charges. There's a good chance they can walk free from this."
What happened to Tyre Nichols?
Tyre Nichols was approached by the police during a traffic stop on January 7, 2023 and their interaction led to a confrontation, that ended with Nichols being beat by five police officers: Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Demond Mills Jr. and Justin Smith.
During the confrontation the officers beat, pepper sprayed and tasered Nichols, who had to be taken to the hospital due to his injuries, dying from them just three days later.
Tyre Nichols last words during the confrontation were: "Mom," as he screamed and pleaded for the beating to stop.
The five policeman were each charged with seven counts: second-degree murder, aggravated assault, official oppression, two counts for aggravated kidnapping and two more for official misconduct.
They were released on Friday after posting bail.
