11-on-11: Hurts connected with both Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz on crossers in stride. Though his repetitive accuracy can be lacking, Hurts does a nice job of setting up his targets for yards after the catch when he does hit them. By contrast, that was not a strong suit for Carson Wentz. Hurts made a real nice anticipation throw to Quez Watkins that was right on the receiver after his break. Hurts hit Reagor deep for a touchdown. On the whole, Hurts and the Eagles’ offense didn’t totally stall out against the Patriots like it has against the Eagles’ defense in practice.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was dialed in Monday. Outside of one shaky 7-on-7 drill in which he threw two interceptions, he was on point with his throws, made sound decisions and acquitted himself well overall against coach Bill Belichick’s defense. It’s safe to say Hurts had the best day of any of the quarterbacks Monday, including Mac Jones and 2011 No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton. “It was my first time actually meeting him in person. In the midst of trying to find out where I was going to go [to college] the second time around, he called me,” Hurts said. “I’ve also had communication with him — just from an older athlete, obviously he’s a legendary player, the things he’s done in college and in the league. I watched him a lot growing up. Being able to talk to him, being able to have a relationship with him, and meeting him in person for the first time, it was great.” Newton called Hurts “little bro” after practice.

Let’s start with the QBs, since they are the “stars” (OL are the real stars of course). By all accounts, Jalen Hurts was the best QB on the field. That put him above Cam Newton, Mac Jones and Joe Flacco, hardly a murderer’s row right now. Newton was a great player. Jones might become one. Flacco did win a Super Bowl. But today, they took a backseat to Jalen Hurts. Hurts wasn’t great. He did throw a couple of picks in 7-on-7’s, but played much better in the 11-on-11 sessions. He got the ball to Quez Watkins and Jalen Reagor for nice plays. Hurts got the ball to his TEs on a regular basis. He was accurate and generally made good decisions. Hurts started slowly in camp. There were some rugged performances. He’s been getting better since they moved away from installing the offense. It also has to help that he’s got his starting OL back. There is still a lot of room for Hurts to improve, but he’s definitely heading in the right direction.

Wide receivers are a mixed bag...: Returning to face the team that originally drafted him, Nelson Agholor had some good plays and some bad. He was blanketed by Eagles cornerback Darius Slay twice during 1-on-1s, and caught only one pass total against Philadelphia’s starters. However, he did have his way with the team’s backup defenders.

The Eagles have one more day with New England ahead of Thursday’s preseason game, and then turn around next week and do the same thing with the Jets at their Training Camp home.

Because of that, Wright could’ve separated himself just a bit because he’s been a little more consistent. The Cowboys may, or may not, think otherwise though.

Over the past 48 hours, two Detroit Lions players were cut for reasons that may not have anything to do with football. According to Justin Rogers of The Detroit News, cornerback Alex Brown is being charged by police after getting into a non-fatal car accident at 2 a.m. early Sunday morning after driving on the wrong side of the freeway. Per Rogers, Brown’s passenger was former Lions tight end Charlie Taumoepeau. Brown is facing four charges, and Taumoepeau has reportedly suffered significant injuries in the accident. The Lions waived Brown just hours later on Sunday afternoon, ending his chances of making the team this year. Taumoepeau was waived with a non-football injury designation on Monday afternoon. It’s possible he’ll return to the team on their injured-reserve list if he clears waivers in the next 24 hours. [BLG Note: Brown once had a brief stint with the Eagles.]

That’s frustrating to me, that these people are allowed to have a platform. And then, one specific news agency, every time they have someone on, I’m not a doctor, but the vaccines don’t work. Or, I’m not an epidemiologist, but vaccines are going to give you a third nipple and make you sterile. Come on. That, to me? That should not be allowed.” Rivera said that his cancer treatment made him more intimately aware of the science behind health care, and the plight of the less fortunate when it came to health care in the United States. Now he’s trying to impress on his players the importance of getting vaccinated, not just for themselves — but having the basic human courtesy of helping protect those who are most vulnerable. Rivera’s impact on Washington worked, raising the vaccination rate of players on his team from 55 percent earlier in the summer to 84 percent now.
