Senior: I have loved being a part of the Episcopal community since sixth grade. My teachers have all been great, they are helpful and fun. They made me want to be a better student and appreciate the subjects I was learning. I have been involeved in many sports- soccer, lacrosse and track and field. The coaches have been good- pushing me to be better and I have loved being part of a team. I loved taking the science classes- we would have opportunitues to really get involved and took cool field trips. I was also able to be a junior and senior councelor for the freshman class on the hiking and camping trip we took before the school year. I loved being able to be with my friends and help new students get to know each other. Junior: Paxon, so far has been a wonderful experience. The school truly does put an importance on their students and not just the number that they represent and there's a wide variety of teachers that students can experience who also come from a variety of backgrounds. There is very much a culture of if you give respect you'll receive respect. Academics wise, I have never felt behind and I know they have resources for students that do there are programs run for and by students that need help and other sources from teachers to receive help. Technology wise we use it often in our classrooms on our DCPS issued laptops to complete assignments. The career academy at this school Digital Video Technology has been a great experience as well learning how the Video industry works and getting hands on experience which the technology used. Alum: I loved my experience at Darnell Cookman! All of the teachers are truly passionate about their respective courses, and so many of them helped me significantly in my education. The class sizes were small making it super easy to make connections with my classmates and teachers, and the one-on-one education made the entire middle and high school experience so much better. I still talk to my teachers from high school even though I graduated back in 2022. Many of my teachers have written me letters of recommendation for multiple different opportunities both during high school and after I graduated. The worst part of my experience was the lack of funding-- it breaks my heart that this school isn't funded well enough because they truly do everything they can for their students. Senior: I've had quite the journey in school. The best part has definitely been diving into the arts. It's where I've felt most myself, expressing who I am and discovering new passions. Sophomore: I have had a great high school experience so far and Harvest Community school is amazing. The school admin is great at making sure they have one on one relationships with everyone. I love that it’s so small but there are also some downsides to it being so small like there is more drama and it’s harder to have good teachers in everything. The admin is lacking in communication though. There have been several instances where I wasn’t told information I needed to know. Alum: My experience at Oakleaf was pretty good. While the school is a bit crowded since they have more students than the school can hold, the facilities weren't too bad. All of the teachers I had were really nice and involved with me and other students. I really enjoyed Mr. Rivera, Mrs. Gross, and Mrs. Kruck as my teachers. I was apart of the school's step team and NAHS and I really enjoyed being apart of those clubs. The step team was fun and we got to perform all year at different events in the school but the team was underfunded. One event the school held that I really liked was Culture Night. It was cool seeing different people of different cultures share an aspect of their life with the school. There was also food trucks and vendors as well as a art walk that was also great. I participated in Chalk Walk which was a art competition where some students do chalk art on the sidewalk for people to see at culture night. Senior: After 4 years of being an Atlantic coast high school senior student, it has been a great experience. I met wonderful teachers and students who help guide me through out high school and I am genuinely grateful for that. The school will help you with what ever you need they will treat you with kindness. If I was frustrated with an assignment our teachers would make sure we get the help we need to understand the assignment. I love our principal, he has been the best principal I have ever had.
