As a parent, JHS offered about the same as other schools, but I did not good transportation to the other local schools. I did not like the fact that they had two full police officers plus security. They do a good job in shuffling the undesirable students into their pathway program, Like most schools they cater to athletes who do great on the sports field but not in life. Their recent Big Ten football recruit ended up being convicted as a rapist.
I have been going to Jackson High since my freshman year. I have experienced many different things. Some I loved others, not so much. The earlier years were worse than now. I used to see and deal with a lot of homophobia, racism, and transphobia from other students. Most of which would've been ignored by admin if/ when reported. Now, the school is at least somewhat better but what they mostly need to improve on is having a positive environment for the students. Most if not all students dread coming to school every day, which is 100% the school's fault. We should have better teachers, learning environments, and more mental health resources for sure.
Jackson High is a pretty good school, that has many opportunities, and a lot of help is given. I have been in a few activity's such as Robotics, art club, codding club, and also German club. Robotics is my favorite and I have been participating in it for years.
