JACKBOYS is the first compilation from Cactus Jack Records members Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Sheck Wes, Luxury Tax, and Chase B.
On October 3, 2019, Travis Scott teased the release of the compilation tape in an interview with Zane Lowe, where he said:
I’m gearing up for something more special to come following that. I’m at the point where I’m just trying to cook up some dope shit and drop Highest in the Room, and maybe put something around it…I’m in no rush frankly but I’m taking my time to come up with the next album but I’m always down to drop music and serve some packs to the fans. It’s time for the fans to eat.
A day later, Don Toliver teased his involvement on the album, via Twitter.
On November 29, 2019, merch bundled with a virtual copy of the album went on sale on Travis Scott’s website, teasing the album’s release.
On December 26, 2019, the album release date was confirmed to be the next day.
Yes. The group posted a film to Travis Scott’s YouTube channel on the same day as the record’s release.
JACKBOYS debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 for the chart week of January 11th, 2020, after selling approximately 154,000 units in its first week. The project is Travis' second to debut at #1, after his August 2018 project ASTROWORLD debuted at the top of the charts.
