In the last round of the FA Cup, Reading overcame Watford 2-0, while Manchester United registered a 3-1 victory over Everton.
Manchester United will hope to prolong their stay in the FA Cup when they welcome Reading to Old Trafford for a fourth-round tie. The Saturday night contest will be heavily in favour of the home side due to their impressive form in recent matches. Besides, the poor run of form displayed by Reading recently will not help their cause either. Hence, the away side has to be at the top of their game to get anything out of this match.
Sitting fourth in the Premier League table, Manchester United have 39 points from 20 matches. They were on an impressive run until recently, as they failed to win back-to-back league matches. After conceding late to settle for a draw away at Crystal Palace, the Red Devils lost a 3-2 thriller to leaders Arsenal. However, those two results cannot take anything away from United’s recent good run. Besides, they are entering this game on the back of registering a thumping 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup first leg semi-final.
The same cannot be said for Reading, who are going through a poor run of games. The visitors are placed 14th in the Championship table with 37 points from 28 games. They are heading into this game on the back of suffering a 4-0 defeat to Stoke City. In the last round of the FA Cup, Reading overcame Watford 2-0, while Manchester United registered a 3-1 victory over Everton.

Both teams will be missing a good number of players through injury for this game. Donny van de Beek, Diogo Dalot and Axel Tuanzebe are out for Manchester United. However, the situation for Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw is not entirely clear. It will be interesting to see if they are passed fit to participate in the match.
On a positive front though Jadon Sancho could be available soon. However, it remains to be seen if he will play any part at the weekend. Besides, Harry Maguire is available following a one-match suspension. Furthermore, Jack Butland could be in line to start for the Red Devils. On the other hand, Reading will miss the services of Naby Sarr, Sam Hutchinson, Andy Carroll and Liam Moore. Otherwise, they have more or less everyone available.
