The English white soul singer Paul Carrack had in a gray past success as the lead singer of Ace (How Long), Squeeze (Tempted) and Mike & The Mechanics (Silent Running, The Living Years). In addition, he built a nice solo career with the outliers the hits When You Walk In The Room, Don't Shed A Tear and Dedicated. His last solo albums Beautiful World and Satisfy My Soul received moderate reviews and also the unpretentious cover album Groovin (2002) received by the critics was lukewarm. The general public has never attracted some of and with the support of Radio 2 is every new cd by Carrack to date good for a listing in the Album Top 100. The same will also happen with no doubt It Ain't Over, although also this album no artistic high flyer. Most of the song material consists of are faceless niemendalletjes and this will the cd after, say, the fifth song from fizzled. Another downside is the fact that Carrack has again felt the money of good session musicians from having to save, because with the exception of a few wind instruments, he played all parties. A result is a flabby, dull and uninspired sounding cd from someone who in the past has proven that he can be much better. What a pity...
