This beach is very close to our favorite crab restaurant, Kentmore.
We took our puppy to check out a dog beach. It is a very small beach.
We met very decent people who truly care about dogs.
We traveled from Northern Virginia and always get stuck in a traffic jam before the bridge. It takes about 1.5 hours including traffic, which is not bad.

This is a good place for your puppy to swim around. The water is very shallow.

This is a small beach, don't expect to be blow away. But there is no fee. On holidays it can get really packed. You may find it difficult to find parking in the small lot.

But the nice thing about this beach is that you can see the bay bridge and play in the water. There are no lifeguards though. Water is pretty shallow for a ways out. The sand is not particularly clean and there are certainly a lot of shells that get washed up. There are restrooms and shower stations by gender that are always open regardless if there is a holiday.

I have seen people ride jet skis and do parasailing.

Overall: nice small beach for a quick day trip.

When instinct, Oshun and the Ancestors lead you to beautiful and fortuitous 'stumbles' that have been under foot, all along. Gratitude!

I found the honeycomb hideout. Perfect on a weekday- off peak when you need to take some me time and chillax. Hardly anyone here on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:30. My kinda scene-- cute, unassuming and low key! Trust the butterflies in the skyyyyyyyy -- They be knowin'!
      Pup friendly. No que' ing.

Oh and if fishing is your thing, there's two piers at the neighboring entry point. You can check the website for additional information on that.

Came here from Northern Virginia to do a little day fishing. It was very easy to get to and is conveniently the first exit right off of the Bay bridge in Maryland. It was a straight shot down the street to the park entrance.

There are plenty of parking places and you could park in the sun or in the shade. We did shade cuz it was HOT! We paid for a parking at the machine and went on our merry way.

This is a really large pier and there's also the surrounding area that you can fish from as well.
The pier is made out of concrete and it has benches all around and holes in the railing to hold your fishing rods. There are also ample trash cans and the park itself is equipped with a couple vending machines for drinks or a little snack and restrooms for you to use. There's also a little picnic area with public grills under the trees.

All in all this was a great place to fish regardless of the heat & not many bites. We will be back!

This is a nice park. It is a hidden gem that works perfectly for safe distance activities. You can have a picnic, go fishing on the pier or just hang out. We visited in the evening and did not walk on the beach. There were public restrooms and a soda machine nearby.

We sat on a picnic table and visited. The wooden tables are old. I would suggest bringing a towel to place on the bench. There aren't many trash cans. Take all your trash home with you. Bring bug spray, a fly swatter and wear socks in the warmer months. I wrapped my legs in a beach towel & my uncovered ankles were bitten.

The view of the pier is lovely. The Bay Bridge is behind the pier. We watched people fishing and crabbing. Dogs are allowed in the area. The sunset was beautiful.

The section we visited was open sunrise to sunset. It didn't look like parking charges were being enforced during covid. There is a pay station where you take a receipt and place it on your dash. Not paying can cause a $50 fine.

This is an easy drive from the DMV area.

My summer feeling like "it's canceled" is not the biggest bummer in the world when we look at the grand scheme of all that is going on. However, I want a summer, damnit! Filled with sunshine and laying out and beachy breeze.

Matapeake is a public beach on Kent Island, located the immediate first exit after the Bay Bridge. There is a small parking lot next to the clubhouse, which is currently closed to the public. It is a short walk past the clubhouse to the sand and beach. At the other end of the beach is an off-leash area for dogs to swim.

It's good that this beach isn't super well-known because it is pretty narrow, with only one entrance and one "strip" of sand. We planned to arrive early because they're currently monitoring capacity due to covid, and will turn cars away if full. The 3-4 picnic tables are first come, first serve.

Overall, nice beach to escape to and chill, especially to get some views of the bridge. The water is calm and cool, but be careful of jellyfish. The outdoor bathrooms were surprisingly well-maintained and well-lit.

Don't share my secret location, Yelpers ;)

We stopped at Matapeake State Park when we exploring during the off season. We have an RV in a campground maybe half an hour away so my husband and I have been checking out the surrounding area to see what all it has to offer. It was a great little area with wonderful views of the bay. We walked on the little beach and out on the fishing pier. Despite the cold weather, there were still a good many people there and it was nice that the bathrooms were open for use. We will definitely be returning when the weather warms up.

This is a small off-leash dog beach located just past Bay Bridge. Parking is easy. Overall I liked it as a decent space for my dog to enjoy the beach, but it is not an impressive beach by any means. It's pretty small, sand with lots of debris, and water doesn't seem particularly clean. However the views of the bridge are nice and it's hard to find another dog beach nearby!

      My dog loved this beach!

Went to the fishing pier for crabbing. While this pier is longer than Romancoke, only parts of the railing was equipped with chicken wire. That made watching our 2-y.o. a lot more difficult as he could easily fall through the rails into the water. We tried crabbing here for an hour or so and only caught one crab. We did much better at the other place.

Parking was $10 using the parking kiosk, and the lot seemed to be large enough. Overall not a bad pier but we just weren't having too much luck there.
