The room was great and the hotel had very interesting decor that my wife loved. Breakfast was provided as requested and on time in the morning. The location was perfect between the Falls and the casino. The room was clean and the hot tub was awesome after touring the Falls!

I love staying at hotels like this that have taken the effort to preserve history. The building itself is reason enough to stay here. You can see an attention to detail and quality in the architecture that you just don't see in modern buildings. They have done a good job of providing a comfortable experience while maintaining the beauty of the original building.

The hotel also offers a lot of perks that make them stand out from the crowd. For starters, including valet parking in a fenced lot and breakfast in the room rate makes this a good deal compared to many of the other nearby hotels. In a tourist area like this you often see hotels charging extra for everything they can. The breakfast was filling and offered a nice variety. It's also conveniently located for anyone who wants to be able to walk from the hotel to the falls and the adjacent park. T here are a good number of restaurants nearby but many are touristy venues such as Rainforest Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe, etc.

We stayed in one of the corner rooms with a fire place. It was a lovely room. It was nice to be able to sit in the love seat and enjoy the fire on a cold winter night. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. I appreciated that they took the time to create a personalized letter welcoming you to your room. An added bonus at the hotel was the 18th floor lounge which offered wonderful views of the falls area and areas surrounding Niagara Falls.

The one negative I did notice was that the room did seem to be showing signs of wear. There was a shade from the window laying on our bed after we checked in. I assume someone was supposed to come fix that and just never made it there but it did diminish an otherwise great first impression. Some of the furniture is also starting to show wear as was the bathroom where I noticed some peeling paint on part of the ceiling and a loose toilet seat. These are all things that can be fixed relatively easily but I hope they take the time to do so because with the charm this hotel has I'd hate to see it diminished by not keeping up with regular maintenance.

This is a 1928 boutique hotel-beautiful in style and comfort.

First time here for a getaway in the middle of a pandemic, this hotel is an oasis. The staff is amazing, friendly and helpful, and humorous to boot during the most trying of times, ever.

The room, while small, had everything and in retro style with today’s amenities.

Breakfast was served in your room, in disposable containers as dictated by COVID. Delicious food, gave us a great start to the day of sightseeing and walking.

Bathroom is lovely, plenty of room, although could have more towel bars. A minor detail but still...

Will be coming back here in the fall to see the colors and do more sightseeing.

On one hand the place is beautiful. You have to appreciate the decor. The room was nice but I would not say ‘COVID-19’ clean. Definitely could’ve been better. I should see no dirt on bathroom floor and it should smell disinfected, which it did not. Beds were comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious. I’m not sure the robes were cleaned, it was questionable, so we didn’t use them. They are not doing the chocolates or cookies due to Covid. Now for breakfast, I had thought, from other reviews, that we could order off the room service menu. We were given a piece of paper to turn into the front desk by 9pm the night before, with very limited and basic choices (cereal box, small milk or OJ, bagel, yogurt, macaroons, or their ‘hot’ meal) one complete order per person. They should be ashamed of serving that in a hotel such as their class. The quality inn probably had a better breakfast. In fact, I’ve had better breakfasts at the Holiday Inn Express. You can see the pics-first day was scrambled eggs with biscuits and a gravy with sausage in it, second day was a ‘western’ omelet with sausage. Yes, that was it. COVID is no excuse for delivering that kind of a prison meal. The coffee is TERRIBLE. Watered down and not enough sugar/creamer was delivered/left. I was definitely disappointed with this hotel, given their room prices.

I walked into the small lobby and found the person working at the desk with her mask around her chin. I asked her to put up her mask and she tugged at it then left it as it was. I had to check in with her violating the hotel's policy posted on the front door and on a sign right in front of me. I spoke to her co-worker who seemed rather unconcerned. Later I saw the same woman with a different mask down under her nose. The room is small. The bed has two indents in it rather than a quality mattress. And the pillowcase is so thin I can read the tag on the pillow through it. The bathroom is about the same size as the room but had no soap or other toiletries. Had to request those and wait to wash my hands while they were delivered to me by the same woman who wouldn't wear her mask. The lamps have cheap bulbs giving a green glow. The armchair is vinyl. I had a better experience staying at the Quality Inn last night where the room was bigger, the bed better and the people nicer. Oh, and it comes with "breakfast" which is just a continental choice of bread, cereal and yogurt. The "hot" choice is an omelette with meat so I can't have that. No veggie option. Really, if it weren't such a hassle I'd move to the Quality Inn next door.

Thank you for staying at the Giacomo and for your review. We are sorry you were disappointed with your stay. We will be using your feedback to improve the services we offer all of our guests. I do apologize if a staff member was not wearing her mask properly. We at the Giacomo do take the times we are in very seriously. For everyone's safety we do have our front desk set up so the space between guests and staff is almost seven feet but that is no excuse for staff not to be following our policy. Happy travels! We had a wonderful stay and would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for a couple of minor issues. We had room 408, 4th floor at the end of the hallway. Big room with high ceilings. The bathroom is big too. Very clean and well appointed. What made us not give it 5*?

The heat wasn't working so we called the front desk and he set it to 80. We got back after dinner and it was still cold. A staff person immediately came to the room with a remote and set the heat warmer and brought an extra blanket as back up. All was well with what she did! There was not a heat vent in the bathroom so we had to keep the door open and put towels on the floor as it was cold.

The windows have sheers and the bedroom had blackout curtains over them and they did a great job. But weird that we couldn't open the sheers and the bathroom had only sheers so after dark people outside would see shadows.

Due to Covid you choose free breakfast for delivery to your room which was lovely. I have a dairy and gluten allergy so really no choices for me. Had some fruit and coffee but wasn't full. Maybe post covid this will change. My husband appreciated the breakfast and enjoyed his choices.

I have wanted to stay at this hotel for years and it didn't disappoint. I will return for sure!

My short stay was extremely uncomfortable due to the disgusting conditions of my room. I will never return to this hotel and would recommend that anyone looking for lodging in the Niagara Falls area not stay here at the Giacomo.

Pros: The front desk staff were friendly. They delivered cookies in the evening. I always do a thorough check of the bedding and mattress before I unload my luggage and luckily, the sheets were clean.

Cons: The bathroom was disgusting!!! Especially the shower. We arrived late after driving all day and went to bed soon after our arrival. I unfortunately did not notice the filth in the shower until I used it the following morning. There was mold all along the bottom and dirt on the walls. I began to notice the bathroom tiles were dirty as well. It appeared the floor had not been swept or mopped in a long time.
The carpet had several stains and as I found a pretzel and another small, black piece of unknown trash, I don't think it was even vacuumed.
The coffee maker had significant coffee spillage that had not been wiped off. The ice bucket had sticky dust on the lid. Some of the walls also had drip marks from something being spilled on them and one of the lamps had stains on shade.
In addition, the tissue box cover was very worn and had rust spots forming near the bottom. And, the bathroom sink needed some Drano, as it filled up every time we washed our hands.
In general, room 401 needed a thorough scrubbing and maintenance. I felt like I was using public campground facilities. I never allowed my bare feet to touch the flooring of this room. I basically tried not to touch any of the surfaces in the room.

Please review the pictures below of room 401.

We paid over $500/night to stay in a suite that was dirty, out of date, lacking charging stations, and had dead birds and bird skeletons on the balconies. We were not informed that the dining room would be closed.
When we ordered drinks and snacks from room service, we expected to enjoy a simple dinner in our "luxurious" suite. Since we were the first to order anything from room service when the "kitchen" opened at 5:15 pm we were told it shouldn't be long. An hour later when we checked on our order, a very rude attendant told us that we were told it was going to be more than an hour because she was "the only person cooking all of this food." When she delivered our tray she snapped at me and insisted that I didn't order until 5:40, then physically shoved the tray and bill at me. What we got was reheated items, some of which were truly inedible (chicken fingers) served in plastic clam-shells. Our martinis came in coffee cups with lids. I did not question the COVID precautions put in place, but this food could have easily been mistaken for snacks from a 7-Eleven. We paid $128 for food that went uneaten, and eventually ordered hamburgers from Door Dash.

We had reserved a Niagara Tour that was advertised on the Giacomo website. The description included a "Giacomo Travel Essentials Bag". I had to call the front desk to remind them of this "amenity" and then ask again about it when our tour was getting ready to leave. We received a paper lunch bag with an apple, candy bar, bag of chips, and bottled water.
This luxury, boutique hotel is not being held to the standards advertised.

We arrived after 9 hours of driving very excited to be here! The hotel itself is very cool, though lacking in their attention to detail. The rooms smell musty, but that was easily fixed by opening the windows and turning on the air. They come around in the evening with warm cookies, which we thought was a really nice touch and reminded me of the Four Seasons (we love it there because the adults feel pampered but they cater to the kids as well). The gentleman who brought them admitted that he forgot the milk as well as the tongs to pick up the cookies. We laughed it off. No biggie.
We reserved a 2 bedroom suite, because we were traveling with our 3 kids (15, 12 and 10). The actual unit was pretty nice, lots of space, the bedding was comfortable and there was a kitchen for use, but it wasn't properly equipped for use. They didn't even have a bottle opener. Again, whatever. There were holes in the doors that we brought to the attention of the front desk before we parked the car. They were aware of it.
What was most unenjoyable was the customer service. The general manager, Doug Ujeski, was extremely nice to our face but we overheard him making an offensive comment and laughing behind our back. Mind you, we are young parents (36 and 37 yo), I have tattoos, my spouse is a skateboarder and dresses accordingly, and one of my daughters colored half her hair bright blue. We were absolutely judged by our appearance and age. We travel often, money isn't usually a factor, and we are the extremely polite and respectful. We didn't say anything at the time.
Upon checkout, I wanted to ask for clarification on a pending charge. We paid (or so I thought) at check in, $1072 for the 2 night's stay with my Visa debit card. But, I had wanted to use my Amex at first, so I inserted that card at checking but they assured me nothing was charged to it before using my bank card. There was $584.66 pending on the Amex. I went to the front desk while my husband brought the bags and kids to the car. The general manager was there and seemed a little irritated that I had a question about the charge. I couldn't even finish my question without him cutting me off and saying that my card was authorized for the amount we owe plus $50 and it will be settled after check out. I tried explaining that wasn't what I was questioning while he rolled his eyes at me, raised his voice and repeated what he just said as if I was stupid and not able to comprehend what he was saying. I politely asked him not to yell at me, as that is so rude and also embarrassing as there were other guests in the lobby. Once he understood what I was saying, he back tracked and tried apologizing for his reaction. I own a successful business that thrives on customer service. How we were treated during our stay is unacceptable.
We will NEVER stay here again.

What a great experience! First off let me say that I am a traveler for the past 10 years so I stay at a hotel every week. And i am very picky! I only stay at the big name brands and i have status so i am treated very well! This was a surprise 50th birthday weekend for my wife and it was amazing first off they didn’t bed night that we were two females and married . I ordered the sweetheart package and hotel did not fail. The room was clean and amazing the bed ever so comfortable the staff are amazing during Covid they have breakfast right to your room the breakfast was not the best but you don’t expect the best in a hotel anyway but it filled our bellies. I honestly don’t understand the bad reviews that some have left but I consider myself an expert since I travel every week every year. There are some things that could be improved but definitely not a showstopper and definitely not enough to give them low low rating. If I had to suggest anything for the hotel management I would say a night table or some type of bedside table should be put in that room. More places to hang towels or pajamas in the bathroom. And more hangers in the closet for a couple we needed more than three hangers. The comforter or bed coverings could use some updating but again did it make us not sleep? No we slept fine . We will definitely be back to stay at this hotel if you take my review into consideration please remember not everything and everyone is perfect but this hotel comes pretty close.

We stayed there every week. There were dogs in the building because many of the floors are apartments, but I’m really not sure about in the hotel rooms. They are very old and I would doubt it
