Disney has revealed a brand-new poster for the Muppets Haunted Mansion, confirming its release in time for the Halloween season. The new Disney+ special is a fun take on the iconic Disney Parks ride, an attraction that inspired the release of 2003's The Haunted Mansion family comedy, which starred Eddie Murphy alongside Jennifer Tilly as Madam Leota and Nathaniel Parker as Master Gracey. With this new iteration set to put a fun twist on the spooky tale, fans can expect to see the return of their favourite Muppets, including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle, to name just a few.

Muppets Haunted Mansion will follow Gonzo, who is challenged to spend Halloween night inside the terrifying Haunted Mansion. Alongside the all-star Muppets cast, Disney have promised a host of celebrity cameos, with Glee star Darren Criss having recently confirmed his role as The Caretaker. The other celebrities who will be joining Criss have yet to be confirmed, however it has been revealed that the movie will be directed and co-written by Kirk R. Thatcher, a man whose name has become synonymous with The Muppets franchise over the years. Kelly Younger will also be co-writing alongside Thatcher, having recently been involved with Muppets Now, a series of Muppets shorts that began streaming on Disney+ last year.

Now, Disney has released an official poster for Muppets Haunted Mansion and confirmed that it will be released as part of their second annual 'Hallowstream' celebration. Hallowstream begins on September 24, and the Muppets special will be released on October 8. The announcement confirmed that the Muppets' first-ever Halloween special will feature all-new music and a whole host of spooky fun for families to enjoy. Check out the new poster below:

Disney also announced the release of a number of other family-friendly Halloween projects, including LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales. The streaming service also cited the recent release of episode 5 of Marvel's What if..? series on Disney+which was a zombie-fied take on the MCU, as an early kick-off to the Hallowstream event. Little more is know about what fans can expect from Muppets Haunted Mansion at this time, but it is likely that more information, as well some of the cameos that can be expected, will be announced as the Halloween season draws closer.

Almost two decades on from the release of the original Haunted Mansion film, the announcement that Disney are bringing new Haunted Mansion content to their streaming service will be well-received by both theme park lovers and general Disney fans alike. By merging the classic attraction with a beloved franchise such as The Muppets, it seems likely that Disney will have the perfect Halloween hit on their hands. This is not the only new adaptation of the fan-favourite ride that can be expected in the near future, as it was announced earlier this year that Disney were also working on a new live-action Haunted Mansion film that is set to star LaKeith Stanfield and Tiffany Haddish, with Owen Wilson also recently confirmed to be joining the cast. As for what can be expected when it comes Muppets Haunted Mansion, fans will have to wait and see what kind of spine-tingling fun the gang get up to when it releases on Disney+ later this year.
