Bong Joon-Ho‘s Parasite is already one of the big success stories of the 2020 Oscars. The South Korean thriller about class warfare, family loyalties, and the horror lurking behind every picture perfect life has been nominated for six Academy Awards, and took home 2020 Oscar wins for Best Picture, Best Writing (Original Screenplay), Best Director, and Best International Feature Film.

Bong Joon-Ho’s 2013 dystopian thriller Snowpiercer is currently streaming on Netflix. It’s a mesmerizing look at a future where our efforts to stop global warming backfired big time. The entire world is frozen over and a small band of human survivors live in a strict social caste system on a train called Snowpiercer. We watch as one of the tail passengers, Curtis (Chris Evans), leads a daring and dangerous rebellion.
Before Parasite, Bong Joon-Ho teamed up with Netflix for the original film Okja. The international caper follows a young Korean girl who makes friends with a genetically modified super pig named Okja. What she doesn’t realize is that Okja was made by an avaricious corporation looking for the secret to farming a new superfood. Like Snowpiercer and Parasite, Okja is a scathing indictment of the injustices allowed to flourish under corporate capitalism.
