‘Wedding Crashers’

Wedding Crashers is the rare movie that gets funnier every time you watch. The 2005 comedy (yes, David Dobkin’s film is almost 15 years old) stars Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as John and Jeremy, best friends who crash weddings to meet women. At one particularly swanky reception, the duo meets Gloria (Isla Fisher) and Claire (Rachel McAdams), daughters to the U.S. Treasury Secretary, and the women invite them to their father’s house for a weekend getaway. Before long, what began as a conquest turns into something more as John and Jeremy fall for the sisters and begin to question their wedding-crashing ways. Come for great performances from the core four stars, stay for hilarious moments courtesy of a meatloaf-loving Will Ferrell and super douche Bradley Cooper.

‘The Vampire Diaries’

There's nothing quite like a supernatural teen drama. The Vampire Diarieswhich first aired in 2009, follows a recently-orphaned Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) as she catches the eyes of two handsome brothers. The catch? They're both vampires who are over 100 years old. As Elena sparks up a romance with the mild-mannered Stefan, she soon learns... Read more

‘Happy Endings’

Surely you know the deal by now: Happy Endings was a critically-acclaimed but under-watched show that was canceled way too soon. We're still mad about Happy Endings' fate, but we're grateful for the 57 episodes we got (and also grateful that they live on via streaming). I mean, by today's standards? 57 episodes might as well be the most... Read more

‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ (1999)

The best thing I watched in April 2024 was Ripley, writer/director Steve Zaillian's stark, eerie, and throughly enveloping series adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's 1955 novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. Zaillian's decision to film the series entirely in black-and-white is, as the kids say, a choice — a choice I applauded, but one that also left... Read more

‘West Side Story’ (2021)

Though there's never really a bad time to watch Steven Spielberg's masterful film adaptation of West Side Story, now is an especially good time, since it stars newly-minted Internet Boyfriend Mike Faist as Jets leader Riff (yes, he sings and dances!) — his take on the character is the best I've seen, and one of the major reasons this movie... ‘Conan O’Brien Must Go’

Conan O'Brien Must Go is part-travelogue, part exercise in chaos theory. The four-part Max docuseries follows comedian Conan O'Brien as he bum rushes various fans of his podcast all over the world. Sure, it's got voiceover from Werner Herzog and hi-res drone shots of gorgeous landscapes, but Conan O'Brien Must Go is not your usual travel show.... Read more

‘King Richard’

While it’s now impossible to separate Will Smith’s Oscar-winning performance in King Richard from the controversy of him slapping Chris Rock on live TV in 2022, this biopic about Richard Williams is worth a watch. And now that King Richard is streaming on Netflix, you don't even need an Apple TV+ subscription to see it. Richard Williams is a... Read more
