I love how TRU brings in support dogs Thursday mornings for all students to pet. It’s shows that the facility cares about the students mental well being.
TRU is a great school. The faculty in both arts and sciences are phenomenal. Arts courses tend to have a small town vibe—you aren’t a number to your professors you’re a person.
This school is awful. It's trading on International Students, actively recruiting them and telling them that even with low English or low grades you can succeed here. But without speaking English it's too hard. They have some good teachers, but many are sessionals and not hired permanently. There are no real "college" activities like mixers, and they choose to build condos for sale to private people rather than student housing on the campus, and students can't find housing here. Kamloops is a bit racist, and this makes it harder for International Students. The school talks a lot about student wellness, but doesn't even have enough counsellors or services for the students as they pack them into tiny classrooms like sardines. They care more about making money from as many students as possible than giving them a real education.
TRU is a very diverse school which Jan really welcoming to the international students .Most classes are blended which is a good thing.
Loved my experience online! Great professors! Wouldn’t change anything about the campus or how accessible everything is, has been perfect so far for me.
They exploit international students and never offer any help or assistance regarding their Visa application which normally ends up with refusals, it has a bad reputation in BC as well for being a relatively new university without any achievements to be mentioned, I had to refund my tuition fees after a horrible experience with them, never recommend!
Online learning with TRU is like read from page 1-5 attempt quiz read further attempt quiz. There is no leaning when it comes to studying with TRU's both online as well as classroom experience. It's just a money minting university and doesn't care about students needs at all. Worst experience of my life.
TRU is just concerned about their money and only thing that this university works for is how to earn more and more money by exploiting international students. They charge exorbitant amount in form of tuition fees and also other charges without even providing any services.Staff of TRU is extremely unhelpful. If you'll go to then with your query, only thing they say is that it's not in their hand and they can't do anything about it.
Student union of TRU is such a waste. It can only conducts elections and do nothing to help the students. Most of the professors are lazy, rude and just make students read through the textbooks. Also they force students to buy textbooks of every course.Clubs are not at all active food available in campus is terrible. Most of the courses have only 1 professor available because of which you'll have to wait to get yourself enrolled in a course. They are just looting students for money and I being a student of TRU will not recommend anybody to join the university.

If you are planning on transferring to TRU's Open Learning programs (online studies) from a different school, then good luck! It took me 8 months of back and forth communication to get the most simplest of things done. They are rude and very very slow at getting back to me via email because their phone lines are almost always off. They have caused so much frustration as their online student record is not well suited to OL students. You HAVE to pay for tuition with a credit card and it is nearly impossible and very confusing to get them to differ your payment if you are waiting on loans. I only transferred to them as they showed that most of my credits would be accepted, however now they are no longer accepting a vast majority of them.
Would never have applied if I knew it was going to be this frustrating.

With the covid-19 pandemic all on campus courses were moved online. The profs did a really good job of transitioning and making sure that our final exams were fair and accessible. Lots of profs were using online resources to enhance the in class experience even before this.
The school is smaller than other schools making class sizes smaller than the average university class size. Professors are great and are very helpful if you make the time to go see them. There are many opportunities for university transition.
Decent university, Kamloops is a great city, the university could improve a little bit. It is very small, which is nice for class sizes
The campus is gorgeous, and most of the buildings are updated. Old Main is getting old, so is Arts and Education. It is situated close to surrounding amenities, and Kamloops is a great city. Food selection could be improved on the campus. Overall a good university.
No Greek housing available. Not a big presence on Campus. Only 1 fraternity. The Sorority is local organization not recognized by any Chapter. I've been working towards trying to establish a Chapter, but have run into difficulties connecting with the Dean of Students.
Fairly expensive for the rooms you get, especially in the older dorms, amenities are ok. Very convenient to school activities, classes, transportation.
They take pride in the sports teams, but there is not an equal number of female sports to male sports. No Title IX
Not Too Bad! Whatever you're craving, you'll probably find it. There are a lot of restaurants or diners around here. But, once again, you need to find a way to actually get there. Fast food is always readily available though (if that's your kind of thing).
