Yesterday, I created a thread talking about how Disney did in 2020. Consider this a compliment to that thread. How do you think Disney will do in 2021? What do you predict will happen in 2021? You can talk about anything, whether it's Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney+, Marvel, Star Wars, and so forth. What do you predict could happen in 2021?

Disney+

1. Gravity Falls will return in a movie known as Return to Gravity Falls.

2. Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers will be rebooted too, as well as Tale Spin and Gargoyles.

For Disney+ - more classic shorts get added. Make Mine Music finally gets added since it's the only animated film not yet released on the platform. The 1994 Aladdin cartoon finally makes it's debut as well.

For Disney Channel - will Bunk'd finally get a sendoff? Also, the second Miraculous World film, Shanghai - The Legend of Lady Dragon premieres in the States before other countries get it, like with the New York special. Same can be said with the upcoming 4th season of Miraculous Ladybug (although most countries outside the US are likely to leak that season).

For theme parks - Disneyland and California Adventure finally reopen to the public after being closed for over a year. I predict we will see some new commercials for this happening probably around spring/summer 2021 (I doubt the parks will be closed for another 12 months, considering many things will start to slowly preserve the status quo).

Alrighty, first let's check out my old predictions for 2020 to see how accurate I was.

RainbowCupcake's 2020 Disney Predictions:

Disney Channel/XD:
-The Owl House will become a massive animation hit. Most will agree that it isn't as good as Gravity Falls but comes close.
-Tangled: The Series will resume in February and end during summer with a grand series finale showcasing Eugene and Rapunzel's wedding.
-The Owl House and Amphibia will receive a crossover announcement. Said crossover will air in 2021.
-The Curse of Molly McGee will air in October. It will be poorly received and mostly forgotten.
-Amphibia season two will air in September or October.
-Big City Greens season two will end in August. A third season will be confirmed.

Theatrical:
-Mulan will be released and will do terribly with both critics and fans. Predicted RT Score: ~45%
-Onward will be released and will do fair with both critics and fans. Predicted RT Score: ~85%
-Soul will be released and will do extremely well with critics and very good with fans. Many people will make comparisons between the movie and Inside Out. Predicted RT Score: ~95%
-Jungle Cruise will air in the summer and be a so-so flick. Predicted RT Score: ~65%
-Raya and the Last Dragon will be a massive hit and will receive praise from critics and the animation community. Predicted RT Score: ~95%
-The Little Mermaid remake will get a theatrical release date set.
-It will be officially announced by Jon Favreau that The Jungle Book 2 has been canned.

Other:
-Monsters at Work will air on Disney+. It will be well-received and a fun trip for fans of the original movie.
-The Proud Family remake will air on Disney+ and it will be poorly-received.
-The Lizzie McGuire remake will air at the end of the year on Disney+. It will divide fans into an all-out WAR (just kidding about the war part).
-The Emperor's New Groove will get a remake announcement (this one is just for fun ;) )

Disney Channel/XD:
1. Pretty much, although I wouldn't call it a "massive" hit. It has garnered attention for its LGBTQ+ inclusion, however.
2. Nope, the series resumed its seasonal hiatus with "Pascal's Dragon" in January. The series finale aired on the first day of March and mentioned the wedding/proposal, but it wasn't a huge part of the episode.
3. Nope. I'm kind of surprised by this one.
4. Hasn't aired yet, but should be coming next year and based on the sneak peaks we've gotten so far, it actually looks solid.
5. Nope, season two aired in July, almost a year after season one aired.
6. Wait, are we still on season two? *Googles it* Huh, I guess we are. I also don't think we've gotten a third season confirmation.

Theatrical:
Oh boy. I'm not really going to go in-depth with this section, since I never would have imagined in 2019 that a worldwide pandemic would decimate the theater industry this year (and will cause permanent ramifications to theaters and the way movies are released). Most of these films either didn't air or were pushed back to next year. Onward has an 88% on RT (my prediction was almost spot on) and Mulan sits at a 77% (better than I thought it would be).

Other:
None of these were correct, for better or for worse.

Okay, let's move on to my predictions for next year (which hopefully will be a little more stable than this year entertainment-wise).

RainbowCupcake's Disney Predictions for 2021

Disney Channel/XD/Streaming:
-Big City Greens will resume in January and its second season will end in April. It will be renewed for a third season and a TV movie will be announced.
-The Owl House and Amphibia will receive a crossover announcement. Said crossover will air in 2022 (yes I was lazy and copied this one over from last year).
-The Curse of Molly McGee will air in April and will be better than expected. It will quickly gain a cult following.
-Monsters at Work will (finally) air in the summer (after being pushed back again). It will be fairly well-received.

Theatrical:
Well, this one will be a bit rocky, so...I'm gonna do my best.
-Raya and the Last Dragon will air in limited theaters and on Disney+ with premier access. It will be mostly well-received. Projected Rotten Tomatoes score: 82%.
-Luca will air in limited theaters and on Disney+ with premier access. It will be very well-received. Projected Rotten Tomatoes score: 93%.
-Encanto will air in limited theaters and on Disney+ with premier access. It will be very well-received and fans of Lin Manuel-Miranda will especially appreciate it. Projected Rotten Tomatoes score: 96%.
-Jungle Cruise will be a total flop. Honestly they may just drop this one straight on Disney+. Projected Rotten Tomatoes score: 43%.

Here's a better year. Please. I'm begging you.

We have Pfizer's vaccine already rolling out, and Moderna's is next starting this Friday, so I doubt Disney would do more simultaneous theatrical/Disney+ Premiere releases for those films.

My prediction for Disney Channel 2021 is to air reruns of its past and present sitcoms along with Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, Amphibia and The Owl House. Also, I wish it could do a double feature movie show for Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

I don’t know if I want to predict what will happen next year, because of the pandemic. But I hope next year will be better and make the whole world back to normal.

Yeah me too.

I expect the California Disney parks to finally reopen (for real this time) after being closed for a year.

My predictions for next year:

Disney Channel/XD:
  • Ducktales and Big Hero 6 The Series will air their final episodes sometime in March and April
  • Big City Greens will air its final second season episodes from January to March. Probably may end with season 2 with the lack of season 3 announcement before season 2 began (whenever a Disney TVA series for Channel and XD gets another season, it's usually announced before a previous season begins like with the season 3 renewals of Star Vs, Ducktales, Amphibia, Big Hero 6 The Series, and Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure)
  • Amphibia will air the second half of season 2 from February to April and season 3 will begin sometime in September
  • The Owl House will begin its second season in March with a possible season 3 renewal before it starts
  • The Ghost and Molly McGee will premiere in March/April with a potential second season renewal before the premiere
  • Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will premiere in September with a potential second season renewal before the premiere
  • Kinda of a stretch but hope Ducktales season 3 can air its episodes on Disney Channel too for those who don't have Disney XD
Disney Junior:
  • Mickey Mouse Mixed Up Adventures will begin season 3 sometime early in the year and maybe get a season 4 renewal
  • Fancy Nancy will begin season 3 in March with a season 4 renewal beforehand.
  • Puppy Dog Pals will finish season 4 in the summer and begin season 5 in fall
  • Vamprina will finish season 3 April-June and get a season 4 renewal
  • Muppet Babies will air season 3 throughout the year
  • Mickey Mouse Funhouse will premiere in June 2021
Disney Plus:
  • The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse will stream the second half of season 1 in summer and likely get a second season renewal
  • Monsters at Work will begin streaming in March and may or may not get a season 2
  • The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will begin streaming in September (on the show's 20th anniversary) and likely get a second season renewal later on
  • Okay getting into stretch theory here but if Big City Greens really does get a season 3, it could end up streaming here and that's why Disney has yet to announce a third season since they wanna keep the move to Disney Plus a surprise (someone actually did make a video theorizing on this and Ducktales airing their future seasons in Disney Plus because they are successful (though that was made before Ducktales was announced to be ending)). I presume they may move BCG to Disney Plus since with how successful it is, it could draw in more people to Disney Plus.
  • Also another stretch theory but if the RenewMML campaign works (it has trended twice now) and the views on Disney Plus increase enough (Dan Povermine has said in an interview back in October that season 3 can still happen), it could have its possible third season stream on Disney Plus too.

You mean season 4, third season already premiered in July 9th 2020.

Betches and Woman World make their premieres this year
  • If not, they'll either get moved to Hulu or get cancelled
I really hope for this to happen, both shows were announced back in 2019 but now there's no new news about the development. Maybe on this year's Freeform Summit or on Comic Con they will say something about both shows. Who knows?

Raven's Home is renewed for a 5th season
I don't think any Disney tweencom ever got a fifth season. Maybe they'll make an exception for Raven's Home because its first season was so short, but I doubt it. They might as well make a longer fourth season.
