Nebraska falls in the ninth to Creighton to lose 6-4

The Huskers faced off against Creighton for the second time this season, but the first time as host. However, for the second straight time this season, Nebraska fell to the Bluejays in a close battle.

The Huskers entered the ninth inning up 3-2 over Creighton. But the Bluejays continued where they left off in the eighth and delivered a grand slam to cap off a 5-0 run to take a 6-3 lead. Nebraska scored one run in the ninth but ended the game with two runners left on base.

The Huskers finished with six hits and four RBIs in the loss. Josh Caron drove in half of Nebraska’s runs, delivering a solo home run in the fourth and an RBI double in the sixth. Cole Evans hit a sacrificial fly in the sixth inning, bringing in the Huskers’ third run of the game.

Tyler Stone earned an RBI single in the ninth with two outs. Stone then advanced to third off a Clay Bradford double. Bradford acted as the potential tying runner for Nebraska, but the Huskers’ rally ended, resulting in the loss.

The Huskers fall to 23-11 on the season and will remain at home for their next series. Nebraska welcomes in conference foe Maryland in a three-game series starting on Friday night. The first pitch for game one is set for 6:05 p.m. Friday and can be viewed on B1G+.
