The hotly anticipated Friends reunion has taken its fans on quite an emotional rollercoaster ever since it was announced. While being in the works for months, the reunion has been delayed twice due to restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, however, the show is finally moving forward. The confirmation comes from actor Lisa Kudrow, who plays the role of one of the show’s most-loved characters, Phoebe Buffay.

In an interview with actor Rob Lowe, for his podcast titled Literally! Kudrow revealed that the reunion special is “definitely” happening. “There’s different facets to it, and we already shot packages of things,” the actor told Lowe. “I pre-shot something for it already, so we’re definitely doing it,” she continued, before adding that filming will resume in  “early, early spring.”

The American sitcom, which originally aired for 10 seasons on the television network NBC, is set to have a nostalgia-inducing, one-off, unscripted episode on HBO Max. Kudrow explained that this reunion is “not a reboot” of Friends. “It’s not like a scripted thing, we’re not portraying our characters,” she said. “It’s us getting together, which just doesn’t happen a lot and has never happened in front of other people since 2004 when we stopped. I think it’ll be great.”

Currently untitled, the HBO Max special will bring together the cast, Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, and Matthew Perry to the show’s original soundstage, Stage 24, at the Warner Bros. Studio lot, where they will reminisce and look back on their memories from the sitcom. Kudrow also hinted that the cast will film some scenes in a “a coffee house room” and other sets that “we have not been in.”

Co-star Perry had also taken to his Twitter late last year to share, “Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March.” He added: “Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that’s the way I like it!”
