Houston Astros Will Be "Aggressive" Players At Trade Deadline

The Houston Astros have a talented roster. One of the most talented in MLB in fact.

But they sit behind the Texas Rangers in the American League West race despite trying to chase down another World Series.

However, the Astros are feeling the effects of an injured rotation and a bullpen that isn't quite pulling their weight. Luckily the offense is playing well. 

But as mentioned above, this roster is too talented to just sit back and not make any acquistions at the trade deadline. Especially to help bolster the rotation, no matter how expense. 

That is something General Manager Dana Brown echoed on Thursday during his radio interview with SportsTalk 790 AM.

"We're going to be aggressive in the front office to give manager Dusty (Baker) what he needs downstairs to win games," said Brown. "We're going to have to do what we're going to have to do."

With Jose Urquidy, Luis Garcia and Lance McCullers Jr. all out with injury, Houston's rotation has been in flux. A World Series contender will have a hard time relying on J.P. France and Brandon Bielak to pick up the slack at the back end of the rotation.

While serviceable in the interim, the Astros will need a proven and reliable arm to help bolster their once fearsome rotation. 

Adding a depth piece at catcher should also be high on the list for Houston. 

Regardless, it'll be an interesting deadline as the Astros promise to be active and aggressive buyers.
