Nestled in the heart of downtown, the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown garners praise for its prime location, stunning views, and well-equipped gym. However, some guests have called out issues with room cleanliness and service inconsistency, alongside concerns about value due to high service charges and room-related shortcomings. While the hotel offers modern comforts and spacious rooms, opinions on the atmosphere and furnishings vary, with a few travelers finding them less than impressive. Despite these mixed reviews, the hotel remains a popular choice for its central proximity to local attractions.

First time in 23 years for a trip with just my wife and I. We stayed 9 nights. Staff was amazing, atmosphere was very upscale but not stiff, and the room/setting/food, well, amazing is an understatement.

The hotel is located at the heart of downtown with two malls right next to it, few steps away as you walk out of the hotel main entrance.
The interior decoration is outclass, one of the best so far I’ve experienced. Their main lobby called the “sky lobby” is just outstanding. No words. It has a glass on all three sides from where you can see the whole Los Angeles. The furnishing is all modern and contemporary. Very well kept and just amazing. You can spend a lot of time just relaxing in the sky lobby watching out of the window.
What can be a little difficult here is that at night if you have kids and you return back to the hotel all tired, it’s just too much for you to first goto 70 floor to the sky lobby and then change the lift from there to the other side to go up or down to your rooms.
The rooms were big, clean, tidy and beautiful. Bathroom was also amazing.
The breakfast on the 69 floor was also amazing. A lot of variety was offered. And again has an amazing view of Los angles if you get the table by the window.
One of the problems that we faced was, that we booked a queen bedroom which accommodates 4 people and it said has free breakfast from booking.com. However, we saw the next day we were charged for the breakfast of 2 people saying the room can only offer free breakfast for 2 people. I believe this should be written clearly while offering to the customers on the website.
Otherwise, overall I would definitely recommend to visit and stay here.

We stayed here one night on July 4th and that was a smart decision - we got the best location to observe hundreds of fireworks around LA! Rooms and service were great: we got a superior king room at the 34th level with a huge window facing LA Downtown and everything needed to relax and enjoy the holiday. A nice bonus to have - the gym is open 24/7 and the pool at level 7 with spa and breathtaking LA panorama. I love the idea of having lobby at level 70, so all guests can have equal access to this amazing view from the top of the skyscraper. Parking is $50.6 per day, which is expected for LA downtown.

I picked this because I needed a decent place for my girlfriend before her flight and I didn't want to get a cheap airport hotel. I should have just gotten a cheaper airport hotel... For the outrageous pricetag I was expecting some kind of premium experience. Instead I got a minimalist experience with a lot of wtfs.

First one was that there is an oversized billboard over the bed which looks like a commercial for a vacation agency? Did not quite get the point of this obnoxious piece of "art"? The room's value would be higher with just a blank wall. The billboard reads "Clear skies, 72 degrees, get ready for landing" and shows a top down photo of a beach. Didn't remember asking for the weather forecast. Felt just like being at the airport, so much for wanting to avoid airport hotels....

The room offers other dubious design choices, like the bathroom is partitioned off with wooden panels and a translucent screen which masks the person inside but lets the bathroom light through, so going to the bathroom in the middle of the night cannot happen unnoticed?

Lobby's on the top floor, for some reason. You actually get to see the nice view when you check in then you go back down to your room, as a reminder that you really cant afford that kinda view.

Toilet paper was cheap. Hot water was not hot enough. Amazingly nobody picked up when I called the front desk at 11:00pm to request a wake up call. I tried twice and gave up. I don't think that has ever happened to me before.

To top it all off, after spending the night regretting paying top dollars for so little, the Valet attendant tell you know you owe $50 for overnight parking "Cos that stuff ain't free". I guess I should have read the fineprint. Needless to say, I hope Intercontinental got what they wanted from me, because I'm not coming back.

I booked with points from my ihg card for New Years plus a few days. First off the room was ok but not a great quality bed or design of the room. Bathroom was very nice and clean though. What really irked me was that breakfast was not included, nor anything inside the hotel. The price for one breakfast was $50! Also, the Spire 73 bar was off-limits to guests during New Years, a huge slap in the face to any guests that were paying New Years pricing for the room. Ended up buying “tickets” for $125 each with no drinks included - even though it said they were in the offer. The line was a joke, 30+ minute wait and the bar was not crowded whatsoever. The DJ was a young blonde girl who could not mix at all, plus a violin player who played the same pentatonic scale over and over. We were moved from different seating numerous times as they struggled to seat all the “VIP” tables they sold. Absolute garbage service.

We did room service one night where they forgot a dish, waited 20 minutes for it to arrive and the waiter expected a tip. The charge of room service nearly doubled with extra hotel fees that were never mentioned. ???

Checking out they had a woman trying to convince me to “beat the lines” by accepting all charges later on, so I would not be able to dispute. Really an uncomfortable stay knowing that they were trying to nickel and dime me the entire stay. I expect at the very least to be able to use the amenities of the hotel if I am paying for a night, incredibly frugal service.

All in all, stay here if you want to waste your money. If you are looking for a good deal for your money look elsewhere.

I stayed at the IC Los Angeles for 3 nights. The room itself was beautiful, the bed quite comfortable. And the view was magnificent! The hotel was also reasonably quiet given its downtown location.

Still, there were pitfalls to staying at the hotel starting with the horrendous elevator setup. When I arrived, I could not find the check-in desk. Why? Because it's located on the 70th floor with minimal signage explaining that and no doorman to help new arrivals.

To check in, you must travel to the 70th floor then switch elevator banks to reach your room below. To return to the ground floor, you have to do the reverse: First to the 70th floor then switch banks and travel to floor 1. (I am told that floors below 40 don't have to do so.)

To add insult to injury, several elevators stopped working during my stay. With only 2 operable, there was a 15-min wait to get from my room to the street level. The elevators were packed like sardines with guests flooding onto the elevator banks and lobby waiting for a ride. Just awful.

As beautiful as the rooms were, the housekeeping was subpar. The bathmat was missing as was the tissue box, leaving only an empty tissue holder. The tub never heated past lukewarm. The food at the hotel is VERY expensive and room service took more than an hour the one time I used it.

I stay at the InterContinental Los Angeles again only if the price was significantly reduced and I was guaranteed I could get to my room from the ground floor in less than 15 minutes.

Welcome back from the pandemic! We travelled to LA to get together with extended family (all VAXed) and stayed at the Icon because it was central to all the things we were doing that weekend. Hubby booked an executive suite specifically so that he would have a 40" screen on which to watch the Champions League game. The view from a room on 45th floor is good, but the best view is obtained by walking around the 69th floor where the Dekkadance restaurant is located. Because of the pandemic, you can walk all the way around the floor, as meeting rooms are vacant. So go now while you still can.

Our exec suite was great -- firm bed, nice sheets, good ventilation, good lighting, rain shower, couldn't hear neighbors. Wifi was free for IHG members and about 40 mbps. You can use chromecast to watch your netflix account on the TV. A huge gym with towels (but locker rooms currently closed). A 25 foot pool. We would definitely stay here again!

One of the downsides is that the Dekkadance restaurant pricing is extremely high. $75 for a mediocre breakfast (don't order the frittata!). The elevators are a burden, you have to go through the 69th floor lobby to get to the 1st floor, so count on 10 minutes to get in and out of the hotel, and 15-20 minutes to get your car from the valet.

You are 2 blocks from the Pantry, a small shoping mall is next door, and the flower district is just a mile away.

I took my wife to the InterContinental DTLA to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary. Since I made a notation when I booked the room we were surprised by a bottle of champagne & a chocolate sponge cake upon checking into our room. We were also upgraded to a better room due to being an Ambassador with the hotel chain.
Before anything, I must point out the lobby is on the 70th floor. So after dropping our car off in valet, we had to take the elevator up to the 70th floor to check in. Once getting our keys we had to take a different elevator down to our room.
The room itself was amazing. Room 6631 was on the highest level for rooms and in the corner so we had great views of the city. The couch was great for relaxing in the room. It was a little weird having to put our room key in a slot to have the a/c & lights turn on.
We went to dinner at Spire 73 (another review) the night of our anniversary. The next day I picked up breakfast from the café at the bottom of the hotel. The café was a little pricey but what do you expect in LA.
After breakfast I went to Attitude Fitness while my wife lounged around the room. The gym is awesome with very technological equipment. It has a great assortment of machines and free weights and lots of cardio equipment. The only down side was there was no water bottles and the restrooms were closed.
After the gym we went and hung out at the pool since it was a hot, sunny day in DTLA. Even though the lounge chairs were a little worn (sagged from lots of use) the water was nice. They don't allow outside drinks or food but there is a sitting area next to the bar where we ate the California Pizza Kitchen I picked up from just across the street.
The only reason I didn't put 5 stars was due to the valet when you check out. Waiting 10-15 minutes in a garage with no a/c is not enjoyable, especially when you're paying $50/day. It would be nice to at least have fans installed to help cool everyone down while they wait for their vehicles.
Besides the parking we loved it at the InterContinental. If we came back I think I'd try to avoid the parking altogether.

Wow, what a fabulous hotel. My first time staying in this hotel. I'm a Spire Elite and was really impressed with both the room but also the staff. The staff is extremely friendly. Literally, everyone had a smile on their face and greeted you warmly every time they saw you. Even the cleaning lady in the lobby warmly greeted you when you entered.

People complain a lot about the wait for the elevator but honestly, I think they are exaggerating. We stayed 3 nights during the busy Memorial Day weekend and it never took long to get an elevator and certainly they allow more people to go in now. The elevators are really quick.

We booked two rooms (one for my wife and I and one for our 3 kids). They had upgraded our rooms but then when we told them we needed connecting rooms they gave us a normal room on the 43rd floor. They had initially had us on much higher floors.

The room was clean and the views were fabulous. Valet parking only and it was really busy but it never took long to drop off our car and we'd call down 15 minutes before we would leave and they always had our car ready. It IS pricey at $50 a day for parking.

I used two of my Chase Free night certificates for 2 of the nights. I was surprised we were able to use them at such a nice hotel as many others I've tried to use lately are much higher.

I'd definitely come back to this property. Nothing at all to complain about.

The front desk staff were great! The greeters great! Once I got the hang of the elevator that wasn't bad at all. The two complaints I have is that we had breakfast in Dekkadance restaurant the food wasn't that great it was lukewarm. My daughter told the server not to bill the tap to the room we were going to pay with a card. The next day we see the charge added to the room. It was never charged to the credit card given to the server. But the person she spoke with was able to pull the information up and it was resolved. The cleaning service did a good job but instead of giving the correct number of wash clothes they only gave two when there were three guest in the room. That was a pain.

The fridge has the entire top shelf reserved for guest use (great for water). That's all I expected and it met our needs. Not sure on he microwave. I sprang for Club access which provided for great sips and nibbles throughout the day.
