The chief investigator of Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is banking on a key witness, the corporate accountant Jack (Nick Cheung Ka-fai), to testify in court against a high-level customs officer and a tobacco trading company CEO accused of bribery and smuggling. When neither Jack nor the CEO show up on the day of the hearing, King is given seven days to save the prosecution’s case.

Chinese New Year means a few Hong Kong and Chinese films drop in at the local multiplexes, and Integrity caused scenes with the elderly couple sat behind me.
*first scene comes on*
"What's this?"
"I don't know."
"I think it's in.... Japanese or something."
"It's got subtitles."
"That's not what I read it was about."
They stayed anyway, bless 'em.
Anyway, that was actually the most interesting thing that happened in this screening. Alan Mak is mostly famous for the Infernal Affairs trilogy (I've still only seen the first one) but I doubt very much this is going to return him to similar career heights.

Despite this being the most glacially paced accounting-focused ICAC procedural, I was in to it for the first ninety minutes.
And then the last thirty minutes went: screw that, here’s an incredibly contrived plot twist and the worst de-aging CGI effects ever committed on film. Take your enjoyment and shove it.
A procedural thriller without any thrills that gets this weird kind of dreaminess in its last 20 minutes. Lau Ching-wan is pretty good as the least exciting cop who breaks all the rules in movie history.
One of those Alan Mak thrillers in which he decides the best approach is turn the heat as low as possible, That's a shame because he is mkuch better when he embraces his pulp instincts. Integrity has a great cast, but heroic blodshed with no heroism or blodshed is just endless posturing and complicated plotting.
In the middle of this excruciating bore about tariffs and accounting there is an unbelievably hilarious flashback scene that all at once makes you figure out the central mystery long before the movie wants you to, feel bad for the comic relief punching bag, think the lead is a disgusting moron and informs you that all the main characters are the same age even though no one looks or acts that way in the present timeline.
Also the main theme of the score sounds like a slowed down "Get Your Freak On." That might be where the half star comes from.
A slick and perfectly perfunctory HK procedural thriller that occasionally makes gestures at deeper themes but decides to go all in on the silliness (all the characters and I do mean all knew each other as kids we find, also cgi de ageing is here) in the final 20 minutes. That’s not a bad thing but I would have preferred a polished product that managed the tone or picked a lane. The cast are good, not great, and if you enjoy this type of movie you’ll probably enjoy it for one watch.
Also as an Australian two nitpicks - one they got the flag wrong (opting instead for the NZ flag which is weird cause our flag is already on the harbour bridge) and two they over dub Australians with American accents because....we’re hard to understand? Well blimey.
Alan Mak is back, baby!
With a bad movie. It's a crime thriller that twists and turns and culminates in that ridiculous moment in Final Fantasy VIII when everybody realizes they grew up together in the same orphanage. That's it. That's the movie.
There's a flashback with de-aging CGI that turns Sean Lau into a sentient wax sculpture whose skin is threatening to slide off his skull at any second.
This is the first part of a planned trilogy? Hard pass.
PTT目前看起來都是負雷，雖然我覺得也沒有這麼糟。大概是大家對麥兆輝有很高的期待，加上那個又是我到底看了什麼的結局以及超爛的特效害的。張家輝最後的結局，讓同廳的人都抱著嘖嘖嘖的心情。不過看生日跟我同一天的青雲哥和張家輝跟林嘉欣演技還是覺得蠻OK的。
