Dr. Erika Freeman, born 1927 in Vienna, fled to New York at the age of twelve. This child, alone in a foreign land with only herself to rely on became a respected psychoanalyst. Margarete Mead, progenitor of anthropology, described her in the early 70s as the “famous among the famous”. Until the mid-eighties, Freeman was a regular guest on numerous TV and radio shows, also national ones. Her only book is in the form of a dialogue and is titled “Insights – Conversations with Theodore Reik.” Reik, also a native Austrian living in New York was a sort of star pupil of Sigmund Freud; Freeman was, in turn, a star pupil of Reik.

Dr. Erika Freeman, geb. 1927 in Wien, floh im Alter von zwölf Jahren nach New York. Aus dem vollkommen auf sich allein gestellten Kind im fremden Land wurde eine angesehene Psychoanalytikerin. Margarete Mead, Ahnherrin der Anthropologie, beschreibt sie in den frühen 1970er-Jahren als „famous among the famous“. Freeman war bis ca. Mitte der 1980er-Jahre Stammgast in zahlreichen, auch landesweit ausgestrahlten Radio- und Fernsehsendungen. Ihr einziges Buch ist eine in Dialogform gehaltene Publikation namens „Insights - Conversations with Theodore Reik“. Reik, auch gebürtiger Österreicher und in New York lebend, war eine Art Lieblingsschüler von Sigmund Freud, Freeman wiederum Lieblingsschülerin von Reik.
