YouTuber Ingrid Nilsen has revealed she’s leaving the platform for good after 11 years.

The 31-year-old, who’s best known for her beauty and lifestyle videos, explained to her three million subscribers that she feels it’s time to ‘end this chapter’ of her life.

‘I have some news for you guys and it’s time to let you know,’ she said in her final video. ‘This video that you’re watching right now is going to be the last video that I post to my YouTube channel.

‘This is marking over 10 years of making hundreds of videos on YouTube and growing up on YouTube and the internet.’

In the video, Ingrid opened up about parts of her life she’s not shared before, from growing up and the impact her Thai heritage had on her life, to her mum being diagnosed with cancer and losing her dad suddenly when she was in high school.

She chatted about finding a community through her YouTube videos, before going on to speak about her coming out video in 2015.

Ingrid explained to fans: ‘I feel like we have grown up together…but it is time for me to end this chapter,’ adding that she had an ‘instinct’ that she wouldn’t be a professional influencer anymore in her 30s.

She continued: ‘I have to stop. And I actually don’t have a plan for the future, I don’t know what I’m going to do next.’

Ingrid clarified of the future: ‘What I know for sure now is that this will be my last YouTube video. I will not be disappearing from the internet, so my Instagram account, I will still be there but I will not be posting in a professional capacity.

‘I will still be using my voice and talking about things that I care about…but posting will be more on my terms because my mental and emotional and financial wellbeing will no longer be tied to essentially how much people like me online, whether it’s how many likes I get or how many views I get, and that feels like freedom to me at this point in my life.’

Tearing up as she finished the video, she explained: ‘In this moment, I am giving myself my best chance and I hope you do too.

‘Take care everyone, and thank you for the best decade of my life. We did this and we did it together.’

Ingrid’s decision came after her fellow YouTuber Jenna Marbles announced she would be leaving the platform earlier this week.
