      Critics Consensus

Infamous attempts to level an indictment against modern youth, but only manages to offer a forgettable story with little of interest to say.

Rubi R It had the potential to be a good story, but the end killed it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/14/23 Full Review Ava D A disappointing film that struggles to depict online life in a meaningful way, despite some serviceable action scenes. The movie lacks originality, and it is clear that the writer-director has borrowed ideas from better films--Bonnie and Clyde and Natural Born Killers, notably. Ultimately, this film fails to offer anything fresh or noticeable and falls far short of its potential. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/14/23 Full Review Kyle M Attempted satirical scolding onto the modern youth's obsession with whatever social media freely offers, but that's the only signified twist among the inspired unoriginality deriving from multiple similar narratives impressively compiled into one, then furthered differentiated by baseless developments, which leaves Thorne pressured in carrying the film with her pretentiously corrupted channeled embodiment as addition to the unappealing characterizations. (C-) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/08/22 Full Review raja a Bad. BAD FRE Bad.... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Glorifies mass murder and robbery. I guess the theme of obsession of likes and social media kind of gets through. But when Ariel is marched out with SWAT she literally has a whole bunch of women (some with children) cheering on a woman who killed at least 5 people. That's sickening Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review bryan b I liked this movie better when it was Natural Born Killers. Peter Bradshaw Guardian It's never easy to represent online existence in a feature film and this is another movie that has fallen short. Some serviceable action sequences, though. Rated: 2/5 Jul 3, 2020 Full Review Kate Erbland indieWire Doing it for the 'gram means doing it for, well, nothing - nothing tangible, nothing that lasts, and "Infamous" fares far better when it embraces that kind of bleakness. Rated: C+ Jun 15, 2020 Full Review Claudia Puig FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It comes off as a lightweight indictment of a generation that actually does care about things. Jun 12, 2020 Full Review John Serba Decider Who's in the mood for a misanthropic movie about hopelessness and Instagram? Oct 14, 2020 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall A teen fantasy that merges celebrity with life on the edge. Not much about the film is believable, and pretty much everything has been lifted from other movies, including settings, relationships and dialog. Rated: 2/5 Aug 14, 2020 Full Review Joseph Walsh The Arts Desk Tackles the perils of social media like a parent trying to navigate TikTok. Rated: 2/5 Jul 30, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
