Indiana has a far more interesting history than just being the birthplace of Jimmy Stewart. In the 19th century it was considered a "hotbed of abolition" because of anti-slavery and Underground RR activity.

Indiana is also the christmas tree capital of the world

Pov and {{fact}}[edit]

A user, an annon, has decied to put in a pov opinion, about a power plant that is not located in the borough. First of all the satement is completly uncourced, about it emmisions, it ranking as a polluter, and it effects on the pouplation of the borough, i am asking for dirext effect upon citizens of the borough, not the effect that exposier to these emmisisons could cause, but results that have happend in the borough as a result of, otherwise it is speculation. Alsi the section is pov, with statemsnts such as "unfortunately", "This means that all Indiana residents are taking in unhealthy amounts of toxic chemicals", which has no source. I am giving it a week and then it will go. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 05:20, 12 May 2006 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Censorship alert![edit]

Firstly, it is in the interest of govts and established businesses in and around Indiana to keep quiet about the Homer City plant which is just down the road. For instance, who wants students leaving and who wants mercury pollution to bring down real estate prices? None of them.

Secondly, it is the right of anyone who is going to visit Indiana, PA to know about local sources of toxins, especially mercury which causes brain damage over the long term.

The argument for keeping quiet about mercury and other toxins is the same used to initially keep the Chernobyl disaster hush-hush as well. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.253.57.234 (talkcontribs) .

So baiscualy you are saying that you have no evidence or facts or anything that can be verfied to back up your claims. Ok well i guess then it needs to go, you should read WP:NOT (Wikipedia is not a soapbox, Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought), and WP:Verifiability. In the mean time the clock keeps on ticking. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 19:37, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply[reply]

POV[edit]

Basically a rehash of the same arguments as seen in the above sections, also carries over from discussion and edits on similar sections in the following articles Homer City, Pennsylvania, Homer City Generating Station, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and [[Indiana University of Pennsylvania ]]. Edits are from either Panem (talk contribs), or from various other registered and unregistered accounts either being used by the for mentioned user, acting for the user, or similar to that user. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 01:32, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Possibly outdated/unsourced content regarding Kovalchick property[edit]

The "Industry" section currently states:

A large section of the southern part of the town, and bordering the university is occupied by Kovalchick Salvage Co. The land was recently purchased by the university and it plans to rejuvenate part of what is considered the largest eyesore in the community. Kovalchick holds large amounts of railroad salvage and aluminum.
As of December 2008, roughly fifty percent of the salvage materials held by Kovalchick Corporation have been cleared or otherwise removed from publicly viewable land.

At least some of this information is outdated. In early 2011, the university completed construction of the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex on a part of this land. I can't speak for the remainder of the section. It seems that the entire section is unreferenced as it is. -Burpen (talk) 20:37, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
