      2013 Drama Horror List
94% 17 Reviews Tomatometer 95% 100+ Ratings Audience Score This drama centers on teenage zombie Kieren Walker, who returns home after his death in 2009 to a less-than-warm welcome. He's part of a zombie group that has been reanimated and treated for PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome), but the zombie-hating Human Volunteer Force, which is backed by local churchman Vicar Oddie, is adamant in its stance against rotters despite the government's agenda of acceptance and tolerance. Kieren must confront the community that rejected him and deal with haunting flashbacks of what he did in his untreated state. Read More Read Less Watch on Peacock Stream Now

Jessie Newburn Writer N Abso-abso-lutely lovely show. Zombies, a small English town, BBC, a great musical score, a rising, a reconciliation. I felt quite touched by the issues brought up in "In The Flesh," the acting, the music, the "real-ness" of the issues inside the insane-ness of the circumstances. Just lovely. Could have binged (and munched) on more seasons for sure. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/19/23 Full Review merance a Was skeptical I would like it reading the synopsis, but it was REALLY good. So many themes relevant to society - whether there are PDS people in it or not. Great characters, great story lines. So sad they didn't do a third season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/25/23 Full Review glenn p Love this series....It has a twist on all these Zombie shows. Looking forward to season 2. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member What am I doing 4 #ValentinesDay ? Re-watching @InTheFlesh of course! It's 1of the most special shows I've ever seen. Aside frm it's inclusivity, the best attribute was the writing, flawless/well-rounded. It talked about the real stuff. @BBCAMERICA @DomMitchell @BAFTA #InTheFlesh Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Undeniably a unique presence in the sci-fi genre, In the Flesh delves into the what if of a post zombie-cure world. What makes it so good though is not its horror roots but rather its realistic and deep portrayal of the complexities of suicide, sexual orientation, fear mongering, and post traumatic stress. This show transcends its genre to create a both intriguing and entertaining show. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member An absolute masterpiece in script, filming and acting. A completely fresh take on the idea of zombies used to represent the minorities in society who suffer prejudices and hate. The best and most refreshing thing the BBC had produced in a long time and well worth the watch. Thought provoking and heartwrenching. David Wiegand San Francisco Chronicle Overall, the emotional honesty of Kieran's character and his all too human craving for acceptance and happiness make In the Flesh oddly moving. Rated: 3/4 Jan 3, 2014 Full Review Nancy DeWolf Smith Wall Street Journal To be tolerant or not to be tolerant, that is one question, and In the Flesh explores it in a novel way. Jan 3, 2014 Full Review Mary McNamara Los Angeles Times It's a powerful meditation on what happens to a community once a galvanizing threat is removed but then returns, albeit in a more benign state. Jun 7, 2013 Full Review Charlotte Harrison Charlotte Sometimes Goes to the Movies Bitterly profound and immensely beautiful. Nov 20, 2020 Full Review Melody McCune Geek Girl Authority In the Flesh has a unique and innovative take on the undead creatures. Aug 28, 2018 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette In the Flesh offers a fresh, clever take on the zombie story; it could almost be a sequel to The Walking Dead in a time after a cure has been found (there's also less blood and gore than seen in TWD).
