      Critics Consensus

Immaculate in conception if not always in execution, this religiously themed horror outing is saved by a divine performance from Sydney Sweeney.

Sydney Sweeney is great in Immaculate and the concept is interesting, but the movie isn't all that scary and the ending will disappoint some viewers.

Philip De Semlyen Time Out A really charismatic actor can supercharge even the most stolid genre fare, and that’s what Sweeney pulls off as the innocent but fast-learning Cecilia. Rated: 3/5 Apr 1, 2024 Full Review Stephanie Zacharek TIME Magazine The movie’s shockeroo ending made me wince, and it made me laugh. It’s bad-gal blasphemy of the highest order. Mar 28, 2024 Full Review Sergio Burstein Los Angeles Times Mohan, for his part, films with a great sense of space and frequently presents us with images that remain on the retina. [Full review in Spanish] Mar 27, 2024 Full Review Whang Yee Ling The Straits Times (Singapore) Sweeney is thrilling in Cecilia’s arc from wide-eyed purity to hellfire fury. Her final act is berserk. Rated: 3/5 May 8, 2024 Full Review Tina Kakadelis Film Obsessive For all of Immaculate’s blood, it could stand to be a little gutsier. Immaculate hints at deeper themes, but it’s hard to find fault with the film’s execution. It’s exactly as promised...gnarly, disarmingly funny, and the birth of a new scream-queen great May 7, 2024 Full Review Erick Estrada Cinegarage Immaculate complies with the precepts of traditional nunsploitation: the questioning of the world and patriarchal institutions... what is considered sacred and unshakable. Kaeley Acting was the best part of it, plot semi-dull. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/23/24 Full Review Sharon J I DO NOT recommend this movie! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Christian A Although not the scariest I have seen, it is still a decent horror movie. It feels like it's playing safe with the horror and at times, the jumpscares can be predictable and it does run a bit too long. However, it does have an interesting story and Sydney Sweeney gives a great performance. I do recommend for horror fans, it is a good time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review byrd I don't think it was necessarily a horror movie per se. But it had a few jump scares and a good plot Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Mr. Hollywood Every few years we get two similar movies released and this year its this film and The First Omen. Both are pretty much the same and only difference is Immaculate does not have to get to a particular ending making it a better film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review Amanda I was kind of expecting it to be scarier and feel like they couldve done more with the ending. Still a good movie though Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
