When Graaf Johann von Nassau Dillenburg IV van Oranje was born on 8 January 1410, in Dillenburg, Lahn-Dill-Kreis, Hesse, Germany, his father, Graf Engelbert von Nassau Dillenburg van Oranje, was 40 and his mother, Johanna Van Polanen, was 17. He married Maria van Loon Heinsberg on 7 February 1440, in Diest, Flemish Brabant, Belgium. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 5 daughters. In 1449, at the age of 39, his occupation is listed as maarschalk van westphalen. He died on 3 February 1475, in Dillenburg, Dillkreis, Hesse-Nassau, Prussia, Germany, at the age of 65.
