Keith Urban – I Told You So Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

I Told You So Lyrics

[Verse 1]
You said you needed your space
I wasn't where you wanted to be
I didn't stand in your way
I only want you to be happy
And so how surprised am I to see you here tonight

[Chorus]
Well, oh, can't you see that for worse or for better
We're better together
Please, just come back home
And don't say that you're sorry
And I won't say I told you so

[Verse 2]
Sometimes in our lives
We get to where we wonder if
The long road that we're on
Is heading in the same direction
When it comes to you and me
We're right where I know we should be

[Chorus]
Well, oh, can't you see that for worse or for better
We're better together
Please, just come back home
And don't say that you're sorry
And I won't say I told you so
[Verse ]
Sometimes it's like we're deep in nothing but love
And the slightest thing can grow so foolishly
Remind me, please

[Chorus]
Oh, can't you see that for worse or for better
We're better together
Please, just come back home
And don't say that you're sorry
And I won't say I told you so
But I told you so
Should have known better
Than to leave me, baby
Should have known better
Than to leave me, darling

Genius Annotation

“I Told You So” is the third song off of Keiths' album Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing, it was released as the third single off that album.

“I Told You So” describes how Keiths' significant other told him that she wanted her space and that she wants to live her life without him for awhile. He meets her again by chance, and he tries to tell her that they are “better together” and that he won’t say “I told you so” when they get back together.

The song has a Celtic feel to it due to the use of the Uilleann Pipes.
