NETFLIX: ‘I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House’ is Now Streaming!
Netflix is now streaming Osgood Perkins’ must see I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, which stars Academy Award Nominee Bob Balaban (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom), Lucy Boynton (February) and Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson (“The Affair,” Saving Mr. Banks).
Bloody Disgusting previous shared the exclusive trailer premiere for I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, which follows Lily (Wilson), a young nurse hired to care for elderly Helen Bloom, a best-selling author of ghost stories who has chosen to live out her final days in her beloved country home – a home that holds an horrific ghost story of its own.
Joe Lipsett reviewed the film out of the Toronto International Film Festival, calling it a “slow-burn ghost story” that’s “a brazen, confident sophomore effort from Perkins.”
Perkins is now one of my top indie filmmakers. In addition to this must-see gem, his directorial debut, The Blackcoat’s Daughter (February), landed in my list of best genre films of 2015.

‘Thanksgiving’ Heads Home This Month with Stuffed Blu-ray and DVD Release
After making $43 million at the worldwide box office, Eli Roth’s slasher movie Thanksgiving heads home this month with a Digital and stuffed Blu-ray/DVD release.
Look for Thanksgiving on Digital this Tuesday, January 16. The slasher heads to Blu-ray and DVD on January 30.
In Thanksgiving, “After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the infamous holiday.”
The cast for the feature length slasher movie includes Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Jalen Thomas Brooks (“Walker”), Milo Manheim (Zombies), Nell Verlaque (“Big Shot”), Gina Gershon (“Chucky”), Tim Dillon and Rick Hoffman (Hostel).
Roth wrote the script with Jeff Rendell. Roger Birnbaum and Eli Roth produced.
I wrote of the slasher in my review, “Like curating the perfect holiday feast, Roth orchestrates a vicious, thrilling, and raucously entertaining slasher with a showstopper finale. It makes for a satiating feast for the horror fan this time of year, and it’s all but sure to become a new holiday horror classic.”
For even more on the behind the scenes fun of bringing this original slasher to life on screen, Roth broke down John Carver’s design and more in a recent interview with Bloody Disgusting.
You’ll want to get caught up if you haven’t seen Thanksgiving yet; John Carver will officially be back to terrorize the holiday in the officially greenlit sequel set for 2025. Luckily this home release will offer the perfect chance to get acquainted with John Carver.
