It's been an incredible academic journey in my graduate program so far. The Integrated Program of Nutrition and Dietetics at Hunter College has truly set us up for success, both in the classroom and in the field. Unlike many other schools, Hunter places us directly into our dietetic internships, which is very valuable. The program is impressively organized, with supportive professors who make learning both informative and enjoyable. The food science lab provides hands-on experience in an amazing kitchen setting. The only downside is the location in Harlem at the Silberman School of Social Work, which is a distance from the main campus on 68th street. Despite the long classes, full-time schedule and location, the overall experience has been nothing short of amazing.
The program is very well designed with great professors and staff overall. I have had amazing experience so far, it challenges me intellectually but not to the point I would burn out, classes are interesting and reflect the counseling field. My biggest challenge is to pay out-of-state tuition as prices for everything in NYC are increasing. Hence, any help would be a blessing and highly appreciated.
It has not started yet, I start in exactly one week. The best part AND the worst part I have experienced so far have been the advisors. One has ignored my emails, given me dates and times to come to events that were cancelled with no notification last minute, and made me miss getting into a class I needed to this semester because she would not approve the time slot. Meanwhile, the other advisor has been phenomenal: very communicative, helping me with any of the bureaucratic/technological roadblocks of class registration, and assuaged my anxieties about this entire process. I am already looking forward to the year because of her. Just so long as I never have to contact the other advisor again for any reason.
