Yahoo Mail and Facebook connections work differently now, so here's what to do
Download Article

While it used to be possible to log in to Yahoo Mail with your Facebook ID, connecting these two accounts is no longer possible. If you can't log in to Yahoo Mail because it doesn't accept the Facebook ID from your connected Facebook account, you'll need to restore your account using Yahoo's Sign-in Helper. If you just want to add your Yahoo email address to Facebook to receive email notifications and verification codes, it's easy to do on any platform.

Connecting Yahoo Mail and Facebook Accounts

  • It is no longer possible to connect your Yahoo and Facebook accounts to share a single login.
  • If you previously connected Yahoo Mail and Facebook, you can't access Yahoo Mail until you restore your account.
  • You can add your Yahoo Mail email address to Facebook to receive Facebook email notifications and verification codes.

Troubleshooting

  1. Connecting your Yahoo Mail and Facebook accounts to share a single login or access to contacts is no longer possible. You'll need to log in to each service separately with unique accounts.
  2. If you've added your Yahoo Mail email address to Facebook, you should receive Facebook verification codes without any trouble. If you don't receive emails from Facebook in Yahoo Mail, check your Spam folder.
    • Check your Spam folder. If you see the email from Facebook there, click or tap Not Spam at the top to move it to your inbox.[3]
    • If it's not in the Spam folder, Click the settings icon (the gear) in Yahoo Mail, select More settings, click or tap Security & privacy, and look for Facebook email addresses (usually addresses ending with @facebookmail.com or @facebook.com). If you see any, click or tap the trash icon or X on the email address or domain to unblock it.[4]
    • If the address wasn't blocked, return to More settings, select Filters, and check for any filters you may have created that move Facebook messages to other folders. Select a filter and click or tap the trash icon to delete it.[5]
  3. If you've already checked your spam folder, filters, and blocked address but still aren't getting email notifications from Facebook, you may have disabled email notifications.
    • Tap the menu icon (mobile) or click your profile photo at the top-right (computer).
    • Go to Settings & privacy > Settings > Notifications.
    • Make sure you see "Email" below each notification type you want to receive, and modify your settings as needed.
    • Select Email at the bottom, then select All to receive all notifications.[6]
  4. If you can't sign in to Facebook, ensure you're correctly typing your email address and password and that the Caps Lock key is not on. Remember, your Facebook password is usually different from your Yahoo Mail password. If you don't remember your Facebook password, go to https://www.facebook.com/login/identify and follow the on-screen instructions to reset it.[7]
  5. If Facebook disabled your account, you should be able to recover it using this contact form.
    • If you think somebody hacked your account and switched your main Yahoo mail address with their own, use this account recovery tool to regain access to Facebook.[8]
