Not sure if it's actually worse than the first two movies, or if I just don't like it as much because I didn't see it when I was a kid. What I do know for a fact tho, is that Randolph starting a bar brawl with those whale hunters is peak cinema.
Jesse goes head to head with some illegal whalers in this 3rd Willy flick. It delivers a very strong anti-whaling message as it leaves behind other themes and characters introduced in the second Willy flick. It tries to be a bit more dramatic than the first two, but I think it fails a bit in that department. Like the others it ends on a touching note even though all I was waiting for was the whaling captain to be bitten in half. Slightly worse than the second, although it does keep a fairly descent production value.

When did this franchise become so action-packed? I'm not complaining though, but I wasn't definitely expecting to see bar brawls or "spy" stuff in such a film.
It wasn't as good as the two first movies but I still liked it plus the ending was so damn touching and sweet that it made me cry.
It's official now that the 3 movies made me cry.
I feel like now there are pushing it to make another Free Willy but all right. It certainly cannot beat the original one however hear is one message I think the movie shows that poaching sea creatures of any kind is certainly out of the question. Why els would Jessie save his friend just like Willy was there for Jessie. You may enjoy the movie. Give it a try.
It's not "good" but I'd say it's a step up from FREE WILLY 2, at least this film has some original ideas (original as in not stolen from the first film, not original as in something you've not seen before in others). It works off the beat of another drum if you will, and I appreciate that cause the second one truly was a weak cash-grab copy of the first.
It had some alright moments was mostly a passable way to spend 90 minutes, while still lacking most merits of what it was that made the first one work so well.
But it's definitly time for Willy to stay free and far away from humans.

Friendshipheads and Willyheads rejoice! With the third and final installment of the Free Willy franchise, we finally have an answer to the question that first reeled us in and made us think: How far will you go for a friend? The answer: As far as it takes! (Although I think this franchise could have been taken further-- perhaps we will see a reboot in the near future. Three movies is simply not enough for a tale as enduring and timeless as Willy's.)
