Loved it! Food was super fresh. Fish here is great and so is the octopus. Prices are on the higher side for food in Mexico, and you have to pay for the boat that’s required to get you there. I highly recommend it for the experience of going to an ocean front dining experience by boat, but it is a bit spendy and they only take cash so remember to look at the menu and estimate the cost what you you’ll spend before you go.

The visit to Ocean Grill wasn’t just a dinner, it was an experience! It was a quick 5-min boat ride from the beach to the restaurant, and we were seated next to the rail in an ideal spot. Service was great and very friendly, and the food was even better. My husband ordered the octopus and said it was great. I had the ribeye and it was mouth-watering and so flavorful. And the guacamole appetizer was so fresh and delicious as well. Definitely recommend this experience, just wish they had some later options for dining time!

This place was amazing! We did the chef’s tasting menu - and I’m glad we did! The appetizers were top chef level good! The actual entree was delicious as well, couldn’t even finish it but wish I could. Dessert was ok but we were pretty stuffed after the meal. It’s somewhat of an excursion just getting there but well worth it!

You must try this place for lunch as it is like going back in time. You have to take a water taxi or catch their boat but so worth it. The food is amazing and the bartender knows how to make a great margarita. We always take friends there who have never been and it's their favorite experience of the trip!

The manager and the staff here are top notch. The special we had was the mahi mahi and it was the best we’ve ever had. The Rib eye, go figure was hands down the best one I’ve ever ate. I think it’s the sourced meat that they used and the chef did an excellent job preparing it. Matilda the pug will always stay in our hearts. So cute. Highly recommend this place

I’ve eaten at this restaurant many times when I’m in Puerto Vallarta. I have to say the food was better than ever! I have the hamburger and it was so good! We had the octopus for an appetizer it’s was superb. The ribeye was cooked to perfection. The view is amazing… They sent a boat to pick us up it’s was on time and very efficient!

Manejamos nuestro auto para Boca de Tomatlán y de ahí tomamos una panga la cual fue proporcionada por Ocean Grill. El paseo en la panga al restaurante no fue largo. Tomó aproximadamente 10mnts. El servicio muy bueno, la comida sabrosa, y la vista de maravilla. Fue una gran experiencia.

Great boat ride, exotic, remote and beautiful location. Restaurant could use some updates and TLC. Food was good, not great. My wife’s octopus was over cooked. Tentacle tips were burnt. Waiter lost interest in servicing us after great initial intro despite there only being two tables with customers in the entire restaurant. I had to chase him down to get wifi password and order desert. I like the fact that it was a weekday and the off season, but he was bored.

We had a great experience here! From the water taxi to the meal and service, it was all excellent. It’s low season time so it was quiet, but after eating we had about 20-30 min on the beach which was a pleasant bonus. The food was great, highlights were the margaritas, clams, and fried plantain dessert. The fish was heavily seasoned, but paired well with beet purée and veggies to tone it down. Overall, I’d highly recommend this place to anyone. It’s a fun experience perfect for a special meal out.

The only thing that we liked about Ocean Grill was the view. And the dogs. They have 3 seatings a day and the only one left when I went on to reserve a table was the 3 pm. There were 3 tables that had customers. The service was terrible and we were very rushed. The waiter was rude and at 4:30 told us it was time to go. We had 8 people so we really needed more time. You get there by a water taxi so it wasn't like we could stay. He was the water taxi driver so we had to get up and leave. On their webpage it shows a little wading pool where you can have a drink and hang out. Well, the wading pool was not clean and they had covers over the furniture in that area. Plus a girl (obviously a worker's child) sleeping up on that level. So really we were just at our table. We were hoping to spend more time there and have a couple drinks after dinner. But, nope, was told to go. There are lots of other places with great food/view and better service. Won't go again.

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Ocean Grill Vallarta. We had a great experience, the food, drinks, and service was excellent. We will definitely be back and have already recommended family and friends make reservations when they’re in Puerto Vallarta.

DO NOT go to the 3 pm seating!! Waves very high so difficult to get out of small boat onto steps to restaurant! Small floating island GONE! No octopus available,disappointing! Maintenance issues and stain needed, bathroom unavailable since used by people changing clothes from beach nearby! Taxi hard to use on Boca small road, and taxi $$ expensive both ways !!

Came here before a few years back, and it was great… this time food was very mediocre this time to say the least… The server was just OK. Had to get up to get cutlery to eat and extra drinks if we wanted them… The fillet definitely not top quality as it was filled with gristle and was served cold rare with completely raw bacon so had to send back. My 35 us dollar shrimp entrée (4 shrimp) was ice cold. Daughter’s fish and my wife’s brisket were very good thankfully. Time to sort your stuff out there folks. Maybe why only 4 tables for the 1 pm seating. Told had to pay cash after i was told via message i didnt have to. Thankful i brought cash in case. Not worth the 325 dollar US bill for 4 ppl. Plus the 25 US water taxi. Weak overall experience. Superior choices in the foodie paradise of vallarta.

This was pretty fun. It’s definitely a journey to get to the restaurant but along the way you get a beautiful drive, a chance to spend time in a Mexican fishing village and a fun water taxi ride. Then you get to eat pretty good food in a table overlooking the crashing waves. I didn’t even mind the two little dogs begging for my food scraps. Overall a nice time and worth the time and money.

Amazing!! Note: the water taxi to/from is NOT for elderly people, young children, or anyone with mobility or balance issues! Specifically getting on and off the boat. We required 4 tourists to help my mom get on and off the small motor boat at the beach and restaurant while it was bouncing up and down over waves (which was terrifying). The restaurant has no high chair & very open guard rails so not toddler friendly. BUT the place was INCREDIBLE- food was DELICIOUS & it was utterly GORGEOUS!!!! We were dreading the trip back which made it hard to enjoy, but I would absolutely go back with just my husband and I in a heartbeat. We highly recommend!!!

Once you figure out how to get there and make it to the restaurant it is a great experience. However you are kind of on your own and doing research on how to get there. Definitely would recommend trying this place out for the experience and ambience. The food and drinks were excellent!

No signage for trail, just follow the only path along the coast, las Colomitos and Las Animas trails are the same. Took 40 minutes to walk trail. Very steep, lots of stairs. The first beach you reach has paradise bar and Ocean grill. No signage at all for either along the way. Taxi and Uber were about 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta. We’re glad we did it!
