I've been trying to learn Vorkath. Why did Crumble Undead not cast?

Because you shot vorkath after the freeze attack was shot out. When you see the freeze attack coming click the ground under you.

u/vmoppy avatar

Looking back on it after someone points that out, I understand now!
I'll pay more attention the the attack timing/cancel during that phase! Thanks!

u/kreegans_leech avatar

If you mess up and you know that you will take damage just eat up

Also why do you bring heart? I've never not hit the spiderling thing for full hp without boosts

prob because the vorkath uses magic. since higher level magic=better defence against magic attacks. so vorkath has higher chance to hit less than without heart boost.

Thank you i didn't know this

u/vmoppy avatar

That's exactly it! I figure the heart will passively stop more damage than what 1 shark would heal.

Wasn’t it proved awhile ago that in almost every scenario you’d do this, it would be better to just bring a brew or manta?

Pretty sure it’s not because of the attack delay, it’s actually just not having the attack style of the slayer staff set to autocast. Haven’t done vork w crossbow in a long time but iirc you can still get it off in time with the attack delay, provided the staff is on autocast

u/Verronox avatar

You can still get it off if you attack with cbow after the freeze lands, but OP attacked just as the zombified spawn landed and started walking towards.

Yeah when you see things are about to go sideways, use that tick eat + another shark and restore to be on the safe side. It’s always good to know npc’s max hit on regular/special attacks. Good luck on pet 😃

Iirc, the special attacks are every 7 vorkath attacks, and it's always back and forth between specials. You'll internalize the timing pretty quickly. Gl

This does matter. The delay from the range attack that he shot, to the mage attack(even if crumble undead was on autocast) is too great of time. The spawn would have hit him autocast or not

More replies

You attacked with range right before and you didn't have time to cast spell since cbow has low attack speed.?

u/Limited_Intros avatar

Either this, or you forgot to set up autocast before the fight?

u/vmoppy avatar

Roger that. I need to be more conscious of my crossbow autos. Thanks!

u/aussircaex avatar

The second you see the white dragonfire, either eat one food to stop attacking if you need to heal, or click the ground

u/vmoppy avatar

I never noticed that the white dragonfire was what casted the freeze. I always try to pay attention to the 7th attack, but this extra visual cue really helps.

More replies

Yeah, you hear the beginning of the attack, your first click is underneath you to stop attacking, then switch to the staff to kill the icy bug.

yeah, it was definitely because you attacked with your crossbow right before you tried to cast crumble undead. A good habit to get into is as soon as you see vorkath is freezing you, just click anywhere on the ground (or just eat 1 food) to stop attacking.

u/Ashangu avatar

You need to keep count and always click away on his 7th attack. you're better off missing an attack in general than you are dead.

i dont think you had auto cast set, you can repeatedly hear the sound it makes when you try to move whilst frozen.

I feel like this is the right answer?

u/dell_arness2 avatar

That’s normal.

u/RoughHumor2301 avatar

Easiest way to avoid this is turn off auto retaliate and click the ground a few times as soon as you see the freeze attack come in

u/aeeiku avatar

Also DON'T spam click the little spider thing if you're auto casting

Missed the spider with some clicks aswell.

Your previous attack delayed the cast. And pray range instead of magic. Add the salve amulet (ei) to your setup rather than the anguish. Suffering is useless. Vork takes no damage.

During spawn special, either equip your staff or click on the ground before the spawn. And prior to fight start be certain your autocast is right.

u/Tykras avatar

I mean suffering still provides def and prayer bonuses, much more helpful than the meagre 8 range bonus from archer.

u/SoraODxoKlink avatar

Vork is a tanky boy so it’s more helpful than you’d realize, +20 defenses are going to account for like 1/25 hits being 0s instead of 15s, an archers ring means you kill him faster flat out.

If he doesn’t have archers then it’d be good, he is learning vork and idk many people that do tribrid dks before vork.

This! I made this mistake lots of times in my first kills.

Click one bro, don’t spam click. Will help you with EVERYTHING in the game

u/juhlordo avatar

Except zulrah where it’s way too easy to dead click too early every time it pops up

Nobody gonna mention the imbued heart taking up an inventory spot doing nothing?

He's flexing it

Get ur salve (ei) lad. Also you can buy reg antipoisons in bulk at karamja store

u/Spitfire434 avatar

I would recommend manual casting as well since it saves a tick, that way you would have tine to eat a piece of food when u get frozen, manual cast crumble undead and then eat another piece of food

Probably not for someone who's still learning vorkath though. Safer to switch to a staff

u/Spitfire434 avatar

It’s literally so easy and much faster since you’re not loosing ticks. You will have time between freeze and the blue guy spawning to manually click the spell icon (now its also much bigger if u wan’t) which gives you more time to precisely click the little mofo

I'm mostly thinking of when I was starting out and this person who's also starting out. Hitting a moving target with one click is a lot harder than equipping a staff and spam clicking it. Especially while your heart rate is up and there's a lot going on in your head

I agree , this is a very chill method and what got me through the fear and panic clicking. now I make non sweaty clicks and get 3 min avgs at a very similar lvl to you. Pro tip get a serpentine helm , takes out the whole poison aspect of vork

Nvm just noticed ur a iron so no snek helm for you at the moment

Don't spam click the scorpion; it takes a tick for the spell to go off and if you click like that it negates it.

False

Why don’t you have anti-venom, and why are you praying magic with a dragon crossbow?

As someone who just started learning Vorkath i think your build/inv could use a TON of upgrading. Upgrades that cost very little to no GP.

What is your ranging level?

Anything under like 95 i’d suggest wearing full Blessed Hide, MUST HAVE salve amulet or it’s hardly worth farming, barrows gloves, Archer ring if you can afford it, if not just a ring of wealth to eliminate the “nothing” drop off the table. Ava’s highest level you have, Dragon Crossbow, and Ruby Bolts(e) until 264 HP then swap to Diamond Bolts(e), and anti-dragon shield. Bring 2 prayer potion, anti-venom+, Extended Super Anti-fire, Ranging Potion, runes for crumble undead/house teleport(Chaos Runes, Dust Runes, Law Runes), Ring of Dueling for Ferox reset, and the rest Monkfish(cheapest option) or better, and a few Karambwans for combo eating. Pray Ranged because he uses it more often and it has a higher accuracy/max hit.

This is the best “budget” setup i could manage, many people tell you to wear to void but it’s not worth it until you can get higher ranged levels and stuff like rigour/dragon hunter crossbow. Unless you have elite void then it’s probably worth it, you’ll just take more damage.

After using this setup it just comes down to learning the boss! You can mark the two tiles near the entrance, two tiles towards the boss one to the left one to the right. If you stand there when he launches poison the entrance will ALWAYS be poison free! Just make sure and click well before your character reaches their destination or else you’ll take a tick of damage. DO NOT EAT unless he’s using a special attack, you’ll lose damage. With the above setup you’ll never have to eat outside a special attack phase, unless you get very very unlucky with magic attacks. Good luck friend! If you have any questions feel free to ask me here, as i said i just learning this encounter and am more than happy to spread the knowledge! Most people playing today haven’t done a “budget” vorkath farm in quite a while it seems so finding this kind of info can be kinda hard or misleading.

It’s an ironmeme account. Not having Anti-venoms and suboptimal gear is normal. Salve is a good call tho.

u/vmoppy avatar

Agh, I totally forgot about using the salve!

u/AdagioBoognish avatar
Edited

Spice is right shop sells antipoison potions for cheap so you don't have to use your super antipoisons. One dose turns venom to regular poison so each venom attack will only cost you 144gp

Use melee on vorkath. It’s much better

Pray range, use elite void+salve (ei) Use ruby bolts til around 300hp then switch to dia bolts

Google "vorkath woox walk" for added dps during acid phase (it's not hard, dw)

u/ASMR-enthusiast avatar

FYI to those reading, Elite void is not as good as Blessed D'hide until fairly a high range level (90/92+).

You need one red click on the spawn. Clicking multiple times resets the attack animation

u/h0dgep0dge avatar

False

What's false about my statement?

u/h0dgep0dge avatar

Clicking multiple times resets the attack animation

if what you mean is that spam red clicking an enemy will stop you from attacking, you're completely incorrect

Despite the lots of comments saying its because of the late rcb, I dont think it is the problem. If I remember correctly, while you are autocasting, clicking the target fast makes you never actually cast the spell. You can try this at any npc. Only click once so the cast animation starts!

u/h0dgep0dge avatar

Why would you say this when it's so easy to prove you wrong

More replies

Like other people have said, you kept shooting even when frozen. A poll failed to stop you from shooting so you need to manually click literally anywhere on the ground to stop shooting. Then just click crumble undead once cast it on the spiderling. It's a guaranteed hit and kill on every cast so you don't need the heart.

During freeze you pray pot, switch to slayer staff, click on the bug when it hits the tile, eat shark and bambam once the cast xp drops, turn pray on, sip another pray pot and then start attacking. Do not eat before you cast it delays your attack ticks.

Your attack after the freeze put your attack timer put on the timer of the rcb, so your attack wouldn’t have gone through until that timer was up

u/Lonelymagix avatar

Im not sure your stats but if you find range hard i would say using melee is alot easier

You are panicking a lot, even if you don't realize it. Slow down and focus on what you can do in that moment rather than trying to brace for another attack. Vorkath is quite literally a react and respond type boss.

u/vmoppy avatar

Sounds good! I have literally no late game PvE experience so I need to take a few breaths and just relax.

Vorkath is very much early game PvE. You'll get the rhythm fast.

u/vmoppy avatar

I managed to get my first half dozen kills last night after all the advice! I'm just here for the backpack upgrade for now. :)

Use the slayer staff with autocast on

Did you have the spell selected to auto cast? A lot of people are saying it's because you attacked vork after he shot his freeze ball but I've had so many ruby bolt procs that didn't count because they went off at that time and still never missed the undead lil shit.

Honestly when you see blue wave coming at you for freeze, just click the floor so you stop attacking, then equip staff, then click the little guy.

All you have to do is 1.make sure auto cast is set 2. Right when you see ice attack coming click ground or eat food/prayer to stop attacking(have auto retaliate off) 3.one click is all you need no need to spam you can actually keep yourself from casting if you spam it

You should learn to use F keys my dude. Or use the runelite plugin that lets you use the number keys the same way. You can customize which number opens which menu and you won't have to move your mouse nearly as much to switch between the inv and prayer menu. I use 1 for combat menu, 2 for inv, 3 for prayer, 4 for magic, and 5 for equips.

I’m pretty sure spamming an auto cast staff doesn’t allow you to cast. There’s a windup tick before auto casts actually attack and you might be resetting that?

u/MightyTastyBeans avatar

100% you didn’t have auto-cast set. You don’t need to click the ground like others are saying. I never do.

u/vmoppy avatar

This was the second spawn that Vorkath had cast. The first one I killed quick, so I'm pretty sure I had auto cast on here.

u/MightyTastyBeans avatar

Well dont spam click then. If you spam click with a staff all you’re doing is resetting the 1 tick autocast delay

u/vmoppy avatar

Noted, thanks for the tip!

Just so you know, I found out / had to investigate this the hard way - if at any point you died to Vorkath / went and banked etc. AND you equip your Slayer staff without having the necessary runes to cast Crumble Undead, the autocast will turn itself off.

Took me at least 3 deaths of "why is my autocast off all the sudden" to figure it out.

You are at the point of vorkath and u dont even know? Lmao smells fishy

As soon as it uses it’s attack to summon, click the ground under u

When you get frozen by Vorkath just click the ground. You won't move and it cancels any auto attacks that might be queued up. This will leave a tick open to cast crumble undead.

It seems like you need more runelite plugins

u/withnodrawal avatar

2 much panic.

My best guess based on video is that you forgot to set the autocast on staff to crumble undead, this happened to me a few times when the staff left my inventory such as after dying and having to reclaim staff or after banking staff. Magic level seemed fine, had runes, game was responsive like no yuge lag which does happen lol best guess is no autocast

You probably need more plug-ins

u/Own_Investigator_208 avatar

Everyone saying it’s attack delay is wrong, please count the ticks after the crossbow attack, I count 9/10 since the quality is quite poor and I’m on mobile, at the VERY most crossbow is a 7t weapon. Even if he was on accurate he should have ATLEAST cast the spell. His staff was no set to auto cast

Autocast takes 1 tick to cast. Built in spell staves attack instantly. It wasn't previuos bolt attack, it was you resetting the 1tick delay with spam click.

Try in on a cow and you will see no spell would cast Try it with trident i stead and it will

u/Ashangu avatar

Are you sure you had auto cast set?

Every single time you remove a rune that casts crumble undead, your auto cast will turn off and not turn back on automatically. This means accidentally banking your rune pouch, as well.

I'm almost positive this is the reason you didn't cast. I've never not had enough time to cast, even if I accidentally get an extra attack in after he stuns me.

You need to learn to eat, too. Keep your hp above 60 and you wont die. If you ever feel like you aren't casting, spam your combo food and pray(quite literally), don't just keep clicking him like something is going to change.

u/-Degaussed- avatar

If you equip a slayer staff without the runes to cast crumble undead, it resets your autocast spell and you have to set it again. This happens to me on occasion and I've died because of it. Best I can recommend is check your autocast settings before waking up Vorkath lol

Man after being stuck in red prison. This looks calming.

u/vmoppy avatar

I'm like thirty attempts deep at cg. I've got my prep down, but I figured I should take baby steps and actually learn core PVM until I actually need bowfa lol
