Lansing Reviews

I love Lansing! Lots of things going on all the time if you know where to look. Great food! Many parks, the majority of them well maintained, and some are very large and well-equipped for outdoor activities like biking, hiking, kayaking, and fishing. Lots of kid friendly playgrounds. The public transit system is robust enough that I know several people who don’t own cars and get around just fine. Neighborhood centers such as Allen Neighborhood Center provide all sorts of activities and resources, such as a year round farmers market, gardening classes, book clubs, concerts, political gatherings, and many more. Plenty of decent bars like The Avenue. The eastside and its subsequent smaller neighborhoods are definitely the best place to be in Lansing. Wouldn’t walk around alone here at night. I haven’t had any problems with break-ins, but I know some who have. Vast majority of crime here is sketchy-on-sketchy, so don’t get involved and you’ll be just fine! I feel perfectly safe here.
Lansing isn't the worst, but it's not the best, either. The city isn't very walkable, there's plenty of food deserts, and it the safety isn't great on the south side. But a lot of places in Lansing are great and it has the potential to be so again, if our officials start putting care and money back into it.
I do really enjoy living in Lansing because there are so many things to do and so many good restaurants to try. Where I live I feel like I'm in the middle of everything which I really enjoy. Lansing has been an integral part of my life's journey so far and I've grown to love it in the past 20 years.
