Given its popularity, millions of PA residents regularly try their luck in various games such as Mega Millions, Cash4Life, Powerball, Treasure Hunt, and more. If you’re looking for the latest Pennsylvania lottery results, drawing schedules, and further details on Pennsylvania Lottery, you’ve come to the right place. Scroll down to get started.

About Pennsylvania Lottery

Pennsylvania Lottery logo and slogan

The Pennsylvania Lottery was founded in 1971 when Act 91 came into effect. In 1972, Pennsylvania Lottery launched its first game, with the revenue reaching a staggering $57.7 million during the first fiscal year.

Initially, all proceeds from the lottery games were used for property tax relief for PA senior residents. The lottery programs continued to grow and they now include long-term living services, rent rebates, low-cost prescription drug programs PACENET and PACE, and many others.

Out of all US lotteries, Pennsylvania is the only one whose proceeds go to programs that benefit senior residents.

Pennsylvania Lottery Rules

Before you start playing any game available in Pennsylvania Lottery, you’ll have to read the rules to understand how it works. However, regardless of the game you choose, the Pennsylvania Lottery has general rules for all participants. The most important ones are:

  • You must be 18 or older to participate in any game featured in Pennsylvania Lottery;
  • You must be physically located in Pennsylvania to be eligible for the games;
  • Only Pennsylvania residents with a registered PA address can play lottery games.

Pennsylvania Lottery Tickets

Pennsylvania Lottery counts over 9,000 licensed retailers where residents can purchase the tickets. What’s more, Pennsylvania is one of the few US states with a regulated online lottery market, allowing players to buy tickets and play games online.

The tickets are valid for one year — the same amount of time players have to collect their prizes. After that period, unclaimed Pennsylvania lottery winnings will be forfeited.

Can I Buy Pennsylvania Lottery Tickets Online?

Yes, Pennsylvania residents can purchase lottery tickets online. Although the number of available games is slightly smaller than retail parlors, PA iLottery offers over 100 games.

All newly registered online lottery members can also benefit from a 100% welcome bonus worth up to $500. Other members are eligible for various ongoing daily and weekly promotions.

Pennsylvania Lottery Games and Drawing Schedule

Powerball

Along with Mega Millions, Powerball is the most high-value lottery game played in the US. To land the biggest reward, you must match all five white-ball numbers and the red Powerball. If you want to boost potential non-jackpot winnings, you can add the Power Play feature and increase their value up to 10x. Pennsylvania Lottery organizes Powerball drawings three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday) at 10:59pm.

Mega Millions

Mega Millions is a popular lottery game in which you must guess all five numbers and the Mega ball to win the top prize. Like Powerball, this game has a special feature, Megaplier, that can increase the non-jackpot rewards. You can participate in a draw twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday at 11pm.

Match 6 Lotto

Match 6 Lotto is the most common choice among Pennsylvania Lottery players. To partake in the game, you need to select six numbers from 1 to 49. If your ticket has the official winning numbers, you’ll win the jackpot. The prize keeps growing until someone hits all the numbers. The game is held daily at 6:59pm.

Cash 5

As the name suggests, the winnings are all paid out in lump-sum, including the main prize. You must choose five numbers from 1 to 43 to participate in the game. The person who matches all the numbers wins the jackpot. Drawings are organized on a daily basis, at 6:59pm.

Treasure Hunt

This game allows players to choose up to five panels, each one containing five numbers from 1 to 30. Alternatively, the Quick Pick option does the job for you and randomly selects the numbers. The person who guesses all five wins the main prize. Treasure Hunt draw is held every day at 1:35pm.

Cash4Life

Play the game by picking five numbers from 1 to 60 in the top grid and a Cash Ball number from 1 to 4 in the bottom panel. To collect the top prize, you need to guess all selections — five numbers and the Cash Ball. Cash4Life draws happen daily at 8:59pm.

Pick 5

To win the main prize worth up to $50,000, you need to purchase a ticket and choose a five-number combination from 00000 to 99999. Then, decide on the bet type — Straight, Box, Back Pair, Front Pair, Back Three, Front Three, Back Four, Front Four. Finally, select the draw you want to participate in — day, night, or both.

The Wild Ball feature allows you to change one number and potentially score the main prize. Draws are organized twice a day, at 1:35pm and 6:59pm.

Pick 4

To participate in the game and potentially win the $5,000 prize, you need to select any four-digit number and pick a wager (Straight, Box, or Straight/Box). If you want, you can add the Wild Ball and boost the odds of winning. Like Pick 5, these draws are organized every day at 1:35pm and 6:59pm.

Pick 3

Your Pick 3 panel must contain any three-digit number. You also need to select one of the following bet types — Boz, Straight, Straight/Box, Front Pair, Back Pair, or Super Straight. Like in previous games, the Wild Ball increases the odds of winning the $500 prize. Daily draws happen twice at both 1:35pm and 6:59pm.

Pick 2

The rules are nearly the same as in previous games: you need to choose two numbers and one of the plays (Straight, Box, Straight/Box, Back Digit, Front Digit, or Super Straight). The maximum prize is $50 and is drawn twice a day at 1:35pm and 6:59pm

How to Claim a Lottery Prize in Pennsylvania

If you’ve won a prize of $600 or more, you’ll have to complete a Claim Form before you receive the money. All rewards up to $2,500 can be collected at any lottery retailer, and they can be paid out in cash, check, or money order.

Winnings that surpass the $2,500 limit can only be paid by the Lottery, not the retailers. To collect such a prize, you need to do the following:

  1. Fill out the Claim Form;
  2. Sign the winning ticket;
  3. Mail it to the PA Lottery official address.

Specific prizes can only be collected in person. If you’ve won the Powerball or Mega Millions jackpot or top prize, annuity first or second-level prize in Cash4Life, or annuity reward in a Scratch-Off game, you’ll have to visit the Pennsylvania Lottery headquarters.
