Hello, I'm having trouble trying to find out if there are any trains that run from Marne La Vallee station to Paris (Eiffel tower) If anyone could help I would be very grateful?

We are wondering if it would be possible to get a train to the Eiffel tower at around 17:00 and a late train back to Marne La Vallee at around 23:00?

We are looking to make this trip on a Tuesday at the end of July.

Thanks in advance, Claire x

Yes, you need to take RER A as far as Charles de Gaulle - Etoile and then transfer onto métro line 6. You can either get off at Trocadéro for a great view of the Tower and take pictures and walk across the bridge or get off at Bir-Hakeim which is closer. It will take about an hour each way. I suggest you get off at Trocadéro so you can take photos and take the train back from Bir-Hakeim.

The cost is 7.50 € each way for adults (half fare for children aged 4 - 9) or you can get a Mobilis Day pass for unlimited travel at 16.10 €. Children under 12 can get a Paris Visite day pass. http://navigo.com/en/tickets-and-fares/

Yes, the métros run until approximately 1 am on weekdays and the last RER from Charles de Gaulle - Etoile to Chessy leaves at 12:30 am.

The RERs before the last one will be every 30 minutes at 9:58, 10:28, 10:58, 11:28 and 11:58 pm. The métro runs more frequently. But when you go to Paris at 5 pm RER A should run every 5 to 10 minutes.

ledge610,

the métro is a very dense network, it has stops every 90 seconds and covers mostly Paris and inner suburbs. Métro lines are numbered 1 to 14. The RER has fewer stops and covers longer distances into the suburbs. The lines are lettered A to E. http://www.ratp.fr/plan-interactif/carteidf.php?lang=uk

Métro = the thin lines on the map. RER = the thicker lines on the map.

The transilien trains only leave from the major train stations and take you to distant outer suburbs although some lines have a few stops in inner suburbs too. They departt from Gare Saint-Lazare, Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, Gare de Lyon and Gare Montparnasse. They are represented by double lines on the map.

When you travel in Paris proper, you can take either the métro or RER, depending on which lines are more convenient for you, it's all one system so you can transfer from a métro to an RER and vice versa on the same ticket.

Yes it is and I can't think of any other way, unless you have a car and going in August when parking is free. Note that if you are going soon, line 6 is closed south of Trocadéro until August 29th so you will have to get off at Trocadéro and walk to the Eiffel Tower from there.
