Thanks to our unique Crown Your Love service, the happy couple can choose the diamond of their desires by consulting the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certificate of each available centre stone.

Selected according to the GIA’s rigorous criteria, Chaumet diamonds go beyond the « 4Cs ». In fact, as well as the classic « Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat weight », the Maison adds a fifth criterion of its own: Harmony. Like the golden ratio, the Maison’s experts select each diamond for its unique proportions, a true masterpiece of brilliance and symmetry.

Our engagement rings can be returned for either a refund or exchange. Refunds or exchanges can only be given if the ring is in perfect condition, unworn and comes in its full original packaging (box, accessory, protection, booklet and guarantee). Please note that engagement rings that have been engraved or sized cannot be refunded or exchanged.

If you bought your engagement ring at a Chaumet boutique, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to return it to either where the purchase was made or the Chaumet boutique of your choice (excluding authorised retailers).

Considered the most precious metal in the world, platinum is a naturally white metal that does not oxidise over time. Thus, it never loses its brilliance and shine. Chaumet only uses 950‰ platinum, which is 95% pure platinum and other metals, such as copper, to increase its strength. Renowned for its longevity and its excellent preservation of precious stones, 950‰ platinum is used on most creations in Chaumet’s Bridal collections. Less scratch-resistant than gold, 950‰ platinum develops a patina over the years. You can bring your platinum piece to our After-Sales Service to be repolished and remove any scratches.

In line with the standards set out by the great French jewellery Maisons, Chaumet creations are made of 18-carat white gold: a precious alloy that guarantees good resistance and solidity over time. Chaumet 18-carat white gold is an alloy made up of 75% yellow gold, 13% palladium and 12% silver as well as a thin layer of rhodium, which gives white gold a unique brilliance and luminosity. White gold is an extremely resistant and solid metal that is difficult to scratch. However, the rhodium plating can fade over time with wear. The maintenance, polishing and rhodium plating carried out by our After-Sales Service will help the creation regain its radiance, brilliance and whiteness.

A guarantee hallmark is affixed to all precious metal jewellery pieces: a dog’s head for platinum creations and an eagle’s head for 18-carat gold.

To give them their unrivalled shine and radiance, our Chaumet white gold pieces are coated in a thin layer of rhodium. This metal can alter over time. You can bring your piece to a boutique or an authorised retailer for maintenance and polishing/rhodium plating, your creation will then regain its original white colour.

The Kimberley Process, which has been in practice since 2003 and adopted by over 75 countries, is an international certification scheme that aims to prevent the flow of conflict diamonds.

Conflict diamonds, also known as ‘blood’ diamonds, are rough diamonds used by rebel movements or their allies to finance armed conflicts aimed at undermining legitimate governments.

The Maison selects diamonds that are used to set its creations according to the universal certification established by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and based around 4 criteria known as the 4Cs: « Colour », « Clarity », « Cut » and « Carat weight ».

COLOUR

Colour

The GIA evaluation uses a colour scale ranging from D (perfectly white diamond) to Z (slightly yellow-tinted diamond).

Maison Chaumet only selects perfectly white, colourless diamonds between D and G for its creations.

CLARITY

Purity

The GIA’s clarity scale classifies diamonds from FL (« Flawless – a diamond without a single flaw ») to I3 (« Included’ – diamonds with inclusions that are visible to the naked eye). Only diamonds from categories FL to VS (« Very slightly included – diamonds with only very slight inclusions ») are selected for the Maison’s creations. Chaumet diamonds do not have any inclusions that are visible to the naked eye.

Each stone is unique and characterised by its degree of clarity, which is determined by the number, size and position of the inclusions. These imperfections are marks left by nature during the diamond’s formation. The inclusions are recorded and mapped on the GIA diamond certificate.

CUT

Cut

The cut of a diamond finds the balance between proportions and angles in order to achieve optimum brilliance. A very precise cut allows the stone to catch the light and reflect it through its facets, reflecting the brilliance and sparkle back to the eye of the beholder.

The quality of the cut is determined using a scale ranging from « Excellent » to « Poor ». Chaumet only selects diamonds of a high quality, either « Excellent » or « Very Good » diamonds.

Chaumet offers a wide range of cuts in its collections: round brilliant, pear, Taille Impératrice, cushion, oval and emerald, all of which are designed to enhance the stone.

CARAT

Weight

A carat is a unit of measurement for the weight of a diamond. 1 carat is the equivalent of 0.20 grams, or 5 carats to 1 gram. Combined with the other three « Cs », the weight determines the value of a diamond. The heavier the weight, the more valuable and rarer it is.

The Maison offers diamonds of all sizes and weights in a wide range of settings.

The beauty of a diamond comes from the combination of all 4Cs – Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat. Each of these four criteria is important, independently of the others. The exponential rarity of a diamond will therefore depend on the combination of all four of these characteristics.

Each diamond is unique. However, its quality can be assessed according to four main criteria: Colour, Clarity, Cut quality and the Carat weight. No criterion is more important than the other. It is up to you to decide which criteria are most important to you. The more a diamond combines a high carat weight with the perfect colour, clarity and cut, the rarer and more expensive it will be.

Each diamond is unique. The 4Cs, Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat are the four characteristics that have been developed by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to assess the quality of a diamond.

Beyond the 4Cs, the final criterion specific to Chaumet is the harmony of the stone. The Chaumet diamond expert examines each diamond under a light, a magnifying glass and a microscope to see the specific emotion it gives off, its brilliance, sparkle and radiance.

Each diamond is unique. The 4Cs, Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat are the four characteristics that have been developed by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to assess the quality of a diamond.

All Chaumet diamonds over 0.30 carat come with a Gemological Institute of America certificate that lists their characteristics.

Finally, each diamond over 0.30 carat is engraved with a unique number, invisible to the naked eye, which constitutes the ultimate guarantee of a Chaumet diamond’s uniqueness and authenticity. This number is shown on the piece’s GIA certificate, which is provided at the time of purchase.

All Chaumet diamonds over 0.30 carat come with a Gemological Institute of America certificate that indicates an individual number engraved on the stone. This engraving, invisible to the naked eye, is the ultimate guarantee of a Chaumet diamond’s authenticity and uniqueness.

Finally, the GIA certificate details information about the diamond’s characteristics (4Cs) and maps the inclusions present on the stone.

The word diamond comes from the Greek « adamas » meaning invincible or indestructible. It is the hardest mineral (10/10 on the Mohs scale). A diamond is however still sensitive to scratches from other diamonds, as well as to direct impact. We therefore advise treating your Chaumet diamond with care.

Each special order is a creative exchange between Chaumet and its client. The Maison can design a custom creation from a stone you already own. This stone must meet the same requirements as the stones selected by Chaumet’s experts, both in terms of their quality and their compliance with RJC standards and the Kimberley Process.

The bigger the diamond, the rarer it is. Therefore, for the same colour, clarity and cut quality, a 1 carat diamond is rarer and therefore more expensive than two 0.50-carat diamonds.

It all began at the start of the 19th century when two types of craftsmanship culminated: the jewellery art of François-Regnault Nitot, founder of Maison Chaumet, and the bold watchmaking skills of Abraham-Louis Breguet. They worked together to create a pair of wristwatches for Empress Joséphine’s daughter-in-law.

This creation was the beginning of Chaumet’s long watchmaking tradition, a combination of Parisian jewellery design and the finest Swiss movements. A story that is still being written today through stunning jewellery pieces that tell the time, emblematic of Chaumet.

Based on these designs, Chaumet watchmaking’s Swiss ateliers then use advanced modelling technology to create prototypes.

Once the model has been validated, Chaumet Swiss watchmakers produce the precious jewellery watches that the Maison is renowned for. It takes more than a year for a new model to come to life.

Some of your daily electronic devices (smartphone, computer, television, speaker, etc.) emit magnetic waves. These waves can interfere with your watch’s mechanism. If the magnetic waves are of a low intensity or short duration, there will be little impact on the movement and your watch will function normally once exposure stops.

We recommend avoiding any prolonged exposure to magnetic fields, especially for watches with mechanical movements, which are more sensitive than quartz movements. Significant exposure may cause the watch to lag, run fast or even stop. These interferences are usually corrected within a few minutes. If these undesirable effects continue, we recommend taking your watch to a Chaumet boutique or authorised retailer to restore it to its proper functioning.

In jewellery making, it all begins with a story, an idea, a drawing… in the heart of Paris lies the Maison’s Creation Studio, where Chaumet designers develop our future jewellery and High Jewellery pieces.

Based on these designs, the creations are then made in our High Jewellery workshop at 12 Vendôme, Paris, or by our partner ateliers located mostly in France, as well as Italy.

A member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) since 2005, Chaumet works exclusively with certified RJC ateliers, guaranteeing the integrity and sustainability of its supply chain through an independent audit. Once completed, each piece is inspected by Chaumet experts to ensure it fully meets the high quality and aesthetic standards set out.

Each Chaumet creation sold comes with a certificate of authenticity. Slid into a pouch, this document lists the name of the piece, its reference number, the individual number engraved onto the creation as well as its purchase date.

In addition, each Chaumet creation set with a diamond of more than 0.30 carat has a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) certificate that indicates the individual number engraved on the stone. This engraving, invisible to the naked eye, is the ultimate guarantee of a Chaumet diamond’s authenticity and uniqueness.

Finally, the GIA certificate details information about the diamond’s characteristics (4Cs) and maps the inclusions present on the stone.

Each Chaumet creation is engraved with:

– A hallmark corresponding to the metal used: 18-carat 750‰ gold, 950‰ platinum or 316L steel,

– A unique individual number that identifies it and certifies its authenticity,

– A size if it is a ring or a bracelet,

– The Chaumet signature.

All our jewellery and watchmaking creations are sold with a certificate that confirms their authenticity.
