Verizon Bill Pay

Article Summary

  • My Verizon is the carrier's subscriber dashboard, which you can access online or via the downloadable app
  • The My Verizon app enables you to pay your bill, monitor your data usage, shop for deals, get free perks, and more
  • The My Verizon app can sometimes present login issues

My Verizon can save you a lot of time and anguish, allowing you to do account-related tasks like paying your bill without having to wait on hold or drive down to a Verizon store (where you'll also likely wait). This article is a broad overview of the app and online dashboard, and the sorts of things you can do with it.

Logging into My Verizon

Getting signed up and logged into the My Verizon app can be unnecessarily challenging. Persistence seems to be the name of the game here.

When I tried to sign up, my username was rejected. After correcting that, I was prompted to login with a temporary password that Verizon texted me. That failed twice. Then it suddenly worked, like the app recognized my device and let me in. I set up a new password and got going.

Every time I open the app to sign in, I have to go through a whole rigamarole of signing in vs. signing up, inputting a temporary code that Verizon sends me, etc. In fairness, my experience with the My AT&T app was similar.

You can sign up for My Verizon online. To download the app, type "My Verizon" into the search bar of the iTunes or Google Play store.

My Verizon Bill Pay

My Verizon allows you to check your current balance and pay your Verizon bill. When you login online or on the app, you'll immediately be greeted—for better or worse— with your balance in the upper left-hand corner. To pay online, click "My Billing" followed by "Pay Verizon Bill." To pay on the app, you'll click on your balance and be prompted with an option to pay it. The Verizon bill pay phone number, if you prefer to do it over the phone, is: (800) 922-0204, or #PMT from your Verizon device.

Suggestion: sign up for automatic billing. It will save you money on your Verizon bill each month.

Bottom line: Lower your bill with an MVNO

Many people don't realize that you can get the exact same coverage as you would from a Verizon plan by going with a much cheaper MVNO like Visible, which offers unlimited everything with Big Red's 4G and 5G coverage for just $25/month. We especially love that you can opt for 50GB up to the fastest 5G speeds, plus spam-blocking and global calling benefits, for just a few bucks more.

Checking Your Verizon Data Usage

It's always good to check into how much data you've used each month, even if you're on an unlimited plan. After all, unlimited plans still come with data de-prioritization thresholds that, once reached, can lead to slowed data.

To check for data usage on the My Verizon app, click on the "Data Hub" tab in the collapsible right-hand menu. To do this on the online dashboard, simply click "My Usage."

See Verizon Phone and Plan Deals

Both the My Verizon app and online dashboard allow you to check out current offers for plans and phones, pick up accessories, and sign up for device protection. Sometimes this is the way to go if you can't get on the phone with a Verizon representative or the person you're speaking with isn't up on all of the carrier's offerings.

Simply click "Shop" to see what's available, both online and on the My Verizon app.

Getting Free Stuff With Verizon Up

Verizon Up is the carrier's rewards program. It's located within the main menu of the My Verizon app. Verizon Up gives you access to various perks, and the ability to see and track the ones you've used.

You'll find discount cards to stores, trial memberships to various services (like something called Amazon FreeTime), tickets to concerts and amusement parks, and—my favorite—a variety of local offers. I'm planning on taking advantage of Yogurt Shack's 2-for-1 offer.

Verizon Cell Phone Plans

Obviously, you won't have access to the wonderful My Verizon app unless you're actually signed up with Verizon, so what are you waiting for?

Verizon wields the best network in the country by far and has some good plans that will give you unlimited access to it.
