Imagine you're Mort Rainey's niece and you find out about his past.
                          
You've been staying with your uncle, Mort Rainey, for the whole week at his secluded cabin in the woods during the Fall season. Your mother convinced you to spend more time with him since you haven't seen him in years because he was too busy writing new novels and he was going through an ugly divorce after he caught his wife, Amy, cheating on him. Plus, she wanted you to get out of the big city and experience the town, Tashmore Lake, where Mort lives.
                          
During your stay, you were having a great time with Mort. But most of the time, you felt uncomfortable being around with him. Ever since you've arrived, Mort acted very strange.

                          
He told you that he can't go into town where he lives to take you to go shopping or look around because he says that 'he feels unwelcomed there'. He ate corn on the cob all the time whenever it was lunch and dinner. He wouldn't let you near his desk area where he types his novels because he's worried that you'll sneak a peak at his writing and you'll get into his stuff. You were wondering where Chico, Mort's dog, went to because Mort told you that he ran away in the forest. Even his oddly new appearance made him look strange.
                          
But on top of all that, ever since Amy and the man that she had an affair with, Ted, mysteriously disappeared, Mort acted as if nothing ever happened, which was weird to you.
                          
You felt like you were in danger being around with Mort. You had a gut feeling that Mort had something to do with Amy and Ted's disappearance. You wanted some answers about Mort.

It was your last day staying with Mort. Your mother was coming down to have dinner with you and Mort and take you back home. You got all of your stuff packed and ready to go.
                          
"Hey, (y/n)." Mort called for you from the kitchen. "Yeah, Uncle Mort?" You asked. "I'm gonna head down to New London Market to get some food for dinner. You wanna come with me?" He asked. When he said that he was leaving, you thought it would be an opportunity to find something suspicious about him. "Um, actually, I'm gonna finish packing, Uncle Mort, so no thank you." You lied.
                          
Then, Mort walked out of the kitchen and said, "Okay, then. I won't be gone too long." "Okay, Uncle Mort." You said, while nodding. "Is there something that you need from the market?" Mort asked, while he put on his jacket and grabbed his car keys. "No, thanks. I'm good." You said. "Alright. I'll be right back, (y/n)." Mort said, as he gave you a goodbye kiss on top of your head and, then, he walked out of the house and he headed to his car.
                          
You watched him carefully as he started the car, backed up, and drive away from the cabin. As soon as he was out of sight, you immediately ran upstairs. Since Mort didn't allow you to be near his desk area, you thought there might be some clues of what he's hiding.
                          
You looked through all the side drawers in his desk for any clues, but there was nothing you could find. But when you tried to open the center drawer, it wouldn't open. It was locked. You looked all over his desk for a key, but there was no key in sight, so you used a paperclip that you found to open the drawer. It took a couple times to try to get it open, but you finally got it to unlock. Once that was done, you opened the drawer and you were shocked to see what was inside it.
                          
You found two wedding rings in a little corn seed package, a strand of blonde hair, a bunch of papers with the title 'Sowing Season, By: John Shooter', and a bunch of little pages that looked like they're from Mort's novel, 'The Secret Window', with dirt on the pages. You were confused. It didn't make any sense to you.
                          
Then, out of nowhere, a gust of wind blew from the little window and it blew the little pages out of the drawer. "Oh, no!" You exclaimed, as you started picking up the pages as quick as you could.
