Hotel Valley Ho in Old Town Scottsdale is lauded for its prime location, within walking distance of vibrant dining and shopping options. Guests often commend the cleanliness of the hotel and its fun pool area, along with the attentive and friendly service provided by the staff. The amenities and stylish decor of the spacious rooms are popular among visitors. However, some guests feel that the hotel's value is diminished by high prices and unexpected fees, and while the retro atmosphere is generally appreciated, the weekend pool music can be a point of contention for those seeking tranquility.

The Hotel Valley Ho is a rare gem, in a sea of molten rocks! The atmosphere, amenities, accommodations, staff, service and setting cannot be beat! Kudos to the chef de cuisine for creating a fantastic menu! I especially loved the tenderloin filet during this visit. I take pleasure in calling out two standouts among the staff - Drake, of the ZuZu bar staff and Magda, at the front desk! To encounter both of these exceptional individuals during my first few hours at HVH, set a tone for my entire trip!

We were VERY impressed with The Valley Ho during this pandemic. Not once did we see any staff without a mask on, even outside, and there are signs everywhere for guests to wear masks too, and everyone did! I’ve never seen so many masks in AZ! We love Cafe Zuzu and ordering food at the bar (to eat by the pool) was a breeze, and the stickers on the floor and directions from the bar tender made it easy and feel extremely safe. The room was clean, the service was awesome and we love the pools! I would totally go back! Thanks for making my 8 year old’s birthday special, we can’t wait to come again!

We had an overnight in Phoenix/Scottsdale before having to catch our flight the next morning, and I picked up on this place from ads for the Arizona Tiki Oasis event held there every year. It looked so charming that we gave it a shot.

The service was impeccable, from the valets who took our car to the desk staff to the bell hops. We had only booked one of the cheapest level of room, but when we arrived they announced that we had been upgraded to VIP status with the full size rooms in the tower, with a balcony overlooking the pool area. It was easily the largest hotel room I've been in... I've had apartments smaller than it! If I'm ever in Scottsdale again, I will definitely stay at the Valley Ho but I'll feel a bit sad about not getting that amazing room again! :D

The amenities are great as well, including the pool area. We didn't eat in the restaurant because it was packed that evening... I heard at one time it was a Trader Vic's Tiki bar franchise, but no more, which is too bad. The best part of the Valley Ho, however, is it's amazing mid-century modern architecture. This place is a perfectly maintained time capsule of chic.

It's location is also easily accessible and just down the road from UnderTow, Phoenix's standout Tiki bar. Just be careful about letting the desk staff order a cab for you, because they went for an unnecessarily expensive option. Just something to look out for if you've got a budget for such things.

Overall, I would absolutely stay at the Valley Ho again. I don't even know where else in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area I would bother staying at. It was one of the most pleasant hotel experiences I've ever had.

The check in process is the worst of any hotel in the country. Check in is the customers first impression and employees should make it an easy process. I have no idea what kind of management they have, but the easiest rooms for housekeeping to clean and quick to clean are the rooms that a previous guest has checked out. The rooms where they are occupied have all their belongings all over the room making it harder for housekeeping to get in and out in a hurry. AND to have the empty rooms ready for guests checking in. We traveled by car for seven hours and left extremely early to check in by 1:30pm so that we can use the pool. I knew that check in was at 4pm,but I can't imagine that an empty king studio takes at least 3 hours to clean if the previous guest checked out by 12pm, plus I called ahead of time (about a week) to request an earlier check in and was willing to pay extra. Nope, the room wasn't ready. Sure I was disappointed, but it was the clerk with his attitude that got under my skin. So I asked for the manager of the hotel. And who came to talk to me and said he was the manager, Alex, just another front desk employee. And he made the situation worse talking down to me. Karma will solve the problem as these two employees will get the treatment one day that they dished out to me. Now, the professional position these two clerks should have said was, "can we buy you a drink while you wait, maybe lunch, or even offer a ride to Old Town or the mall" but, NO, they just said I would have to wait. And then, these two clerks let five other parties check in and get their rooms before us. It will come back to them one day!

The rest of our stay was very pleasant, but the major kudos go to Ivan, from valet. This guy should be the hotel manager. He knows how to talk and treat guests. I'm glad valet accepts tips, he will do well. Thank you Ivan!!!!

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. Unfortunately we were completely sold out the night before your arrival, and therefore unable to accommodate check-in when you arrived at 1:30 p.m. We are glad that we were able to check you in to the room within only 20 minutes of arrival, well in advance of the guaranteed time. We did communicate in advance to make sure that there was an understanding of the check-in procedures and guaranteed check-in time of 4 p.m. We were able to offer different room options upon arrival, but unfortunately none that met your specific wishes. Unfortunately no upgrades were available due to the sold-out status of the hotel. We do always advise booking the desired room type if there is something particular that you are looking for, to ensure it is available. We always accommodate pool access for our guests who arrive early and are happy to store your luggage and provide access to the spa facilities to change and shower. Alex is one of our managers at the front desk and typically receives high praise regarding his hospitality and customer service; we apologize if you felt that you were not better assisted upon arrival. We are sorry to hear that the lack of an early check-in had such a negative impact on your stay, but unfortunately there are limitations on providing early check-ins when the hotel is sold out. Thank you again for sharing your experience with us, we appreciate it.

The hotel is ok. Nothing stellar or extraordinary about it, but I would use it again for my trips to Scottsdale if it were not for its abusive practices.

The rooms have a yoga mat. I thought that was nice and used it. It had a soft plastic wrap, which I assumed they used to keep the mat rolled and signal that it was clean.

That is not the case. I didn't realize upon checkout because I was in a hurry, and my invoice had a few pages, but they charged me $47.44 for the yoga mat. I called to ask about this charge that I didn't recognize and they told me it was for the yoga mat, which they explained that was considered a minibar item. That is beyond ridiculous, nobody in their right mind would take home a yoga mat from a hotel room.

When I complained that this was not warned anywhere, they said it was written "somewhere in the room". The hotel has ignored several emails requesting they credit me the amount.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. During your stay in July of 2019, we offered an in-room yoga package. This included a yoga mat, a year subscription to online classes, and the in-room bottled waters. The yoga mat was in a sealed package, and once opened, is considered a purchase. It was displayed on a mat that outlined the program and the package inclusions. This was a popular promotion, and was coded as a mini-bar purchase since it is an in-room package. For health and sanitation reasons, we do not reuse this item once opened. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns, thank you.

Stayed three nights right after reopening. They are strictly following safety protocols for Covid, which is nice. This does mean that housekeeping doesn’t clean your room...we had to ask for someone to come take our garbage after it got out of hand.

The staff is a 10. Our sever at the pool, Laurie, was awesome. But all the staff were fantastic. We both work in the hospitality industry, so they really impressed us. They are the best part of this property. A TEAM all around.

The food is also a 10. With the curfew going into effect while we were there, we ended up eating from their restaurant a lot. Every meal was fantastic.

We had a cabana king and paid $135, which was a great deal.

It’s a really cute property, beautifully landscaped, but we found out from talking to other guests that rooms are typically about $300. Is it great for $135, yes! Is it worth more than $200? No. It’s an updated motel. This is not a luxury property in any sense, other than the food and staff.

The location is also perfect.

And, we were there in the low season, and during covid, and during the week, and there were kids everywhere. Like way more kids than adults. We were quite surprised, as this hotel definitely seems like an adult/party vibe. Just something to note if that’s a concern.

They charge you for the nicer lounge chairs at the pool. $90 during the week. Seeing as how we dropped $350 at the pool, it seemed like we should have been able to sit there if we wanted.

Supposedly there are quieter rooms, but their birds woke me up every morning around 5 am. My girlfriend slept right through it though. If you’re a light sleeper, that could be annoying.

We were a couple having a staycation and loved the room.

The room had modern flair up the wazoo. Showers, bathtub, and bathroom products (triple milled soap, body lotions, etc) were on point.

Excellent hotel stay.

But word to the wise. If you bring a streaming device you:

1. Might need to provide your own Hotspot as we couldn't get the very last wifi step to complete on our 4K Firestick.

2. Should Probably bring an extension cord for the bedroom TV as our electrical sockets were all out of range for connecting our device.

+CLEAN! (Covid right)

If you are reading reviews, contemplating where to stay in Scottsdale and Old Town, truly look no further and just book the Hotel Valley Ho.

The Valley Ho is not your ordinary chain Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt. The Valley Ho is a unique, boutique style resort in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. What sets the Valley Ho apart from the rest is truly the staff and level of service they provide. The Valley Ho pays attention to details in all areas; from the food, to the cocktails, to the cleanliness of the property, to the live music inside ZuZu or poolside, the Valley Ho has thought about all of these amenities and aspects to enhance your stay.

This was our 6th stay at the Valley Ho and we are already booked to return later this year. See everyone soon.

Family were staying here for a couple days so we booked one night to join in the fun. Had a great time.

First off - COVID concerns taken into consideration, masks were on by all staff, ZUZU (restaurant) spaced between tables.

All staff were friendly, helpful. In our 24 hours we hit the restaurant for three meals, enjoyed drinks by the pool, which was also spaced well, was a Monday so only a dozen or so people. (As a side, if the pool is sparsely populated and no cabanas in use, maybe offer guests a discounted rate? Give 'em that first taste, maybe they'll pony up the next time around.)

Were lucky enough to enjoy a Restaurant Week dinner, which was great, the Valley Ho breakfast was good, but my first lunch/meal there, the Green Chile Pork Mac & Cheese was my fave. Hand's down. Green chilies worked into the sauce rather than just added made for a super tasty dish. Portions could have been bigger (to be fair, I could have eaten a bucket of it, if provided, as it was that good), but ultimately was perfect amount of food to kill the Hangry and leave space for some of the poolside drinks.

Our room was fantastic. Absolutely loved the vibe and decor. Comfy bed, huge tv, very spacious balcony with a great pool view. Oh and the a/c was great.

To be fair, all told was an expensive (for us) stay once meals, pool drinks and everything added in, but was a 24 hour getaway and are happy with what we got for our money. A nice splurge.

Would certainly be up for another overnight throwback to the Valley Ho.
