Horst Buchholz – actor – director – festival director

Welcome to the official Horst Buchholz website

Horst B u c h h o l z was born in Berlin in 1933 and grew up there. Because his father was a prisoner of war, he had to earn money for the family himself.
At the age of thirteen he got his first starring roles in the theatre; after his stage success in Erich Kästner’s „Emil and the Detectives“ (first speaking role) he began to dub films and also worked in school radio, among other things. He played at almost all Berlin stages until he was hired for the title role in „Cheri“ on Broadway in 1959. Later followed numerous engagements in Berlin, Vienna, etc..

Theatre was always his great passion. From 1952 to 2003 Horst Buchholz appeared in countless cinema films and television productions.
