      Critics Consensus

Home Alone's uneven but frequently funny premise, stretched unreasonably thin, is buoyed by Macaulay Culkin's cute performance and strong supporting stars.

Jason R A christmas classic now, joining Kevin as he's accidentally left Home Alone, still enjoyable to watch putting yourself in the 90s again, of course things would be different these days with technology, video calls, door cams, house cams, Alexa... ect... still one of my childhood favorites Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/20/24 Full Review Johana B A classic, one of the best Christmas movies. It is very entertaining, funny and creative. Very recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/24 Full Review Валерия Home Alone is an American Christmas comedy directed by Chris Columbus, released in 1990. You can view it on any website. The action takes place in a large McCallister family shortly before Christmas, they gather at Peter and Kate's house on the outskirts of Chicago, Illinois, to fly to Paris together and spend the holidays there. 8-year-old Kevin, the youngest son of the owners of the house, is laughed at by brothers and sisters, as well as other relatives, especially the older bully brother Buzz. Kevin likes to stay alone in the house, but he has to face two robbers, played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. Although the plot of the film "Home Alone" seems simple and funny, however, an attentive viewer may notice a deep subtext and hidden ideas. Throughout the film, we see a little boy Kevin struggling with his fears and insecurities, forced to stay at home alone. Despite the comic situations and funny stunts, the film also addresses the important question of the meaning of family, trust and independence. Ultimately, "Home Alone" is not just a story about a brave boy, but also about the importance of accepting yourself and your surroundings. I really liked the movie, the plot is good, the characters are funny and interesting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Antoine T My kids have already watched the two first Home Alone maybe 5 times in 2024 (they hate the other ones). This is not great art, but undoubtedly a timeless classic comedy that knows its audience.
