Highland High School Reviews
Rating 3.73 out of 5 410 reviews
As a student who entered Highland as a Freshman, knowing no one. Highland is a great school to make new friends. Yes, there are cliques, but I personally feel one can find at least one friend/group setting that they feel they will belong to. As far as teachers, I personally haven't had a negative experience. I feel that most teachers do want to help you succeed. Lunches are very crowded because we had a recent change from 2 lunches to 1. And I feel like it wasn't a good decision because there are more fights than usual and it is extremely crowded. We also have tardy sweeps everyday and yes I do understand why, but if it has become this much of a problem, clearly nothing is being done to fix it. I think it is awesome how we are now getting a pool built. It should be done by fall next year. I really enjoy the sports, whether it's going to the games/being in the games. Overall highland is a pretty good school and I am happy here.
My overall experience has been below satisfactory. There are a few select teachers who care for their job and I believe have been influential in my education. Though, the overall experience has not been well due to the lack of care and consistency with my education. We may hit certain milestones to graduate highschool, but in depth knowledge of the subjects we are learning is not there. We are missing in depth learning of the skills we need to further our education after highschool. The best part of my experience have been the relationships built with faculty and my school colleagues. Through these relationships I believe my character development and compassion for others has grown. I do appreciate the ability to meet new people through sports and after school activities for these have been the highlights of my time at Highland. Overall, I would like to see a change in the Highland culture when it comes to education and providing in depth knowledge of the subjects we are learning.
The goal for higher education is instilled into the students while they offer career pathways to take early college credit courses. They offer many Parent activities, have caring teachers , sports activities, and ROC or CTech opportunities.
