High in the Clouds is a musical animated feature film that was planned for release on Netflix, based on the popular children’s adventure novel of the same title by McCartney and Geoff Dunbar, and Philip Ardagh. It is directed by Oscar-nominee® Timothy Reckart from a script by Jon Croker. [1]
“High in the Clouds” was published in 2005. McCartney set the project up with Shaye and Lynne in 2013. McCartney produced and contributed songs to the film.
In October 2023, it was reported that Gaumont would be introducing the movie to buyers with a sizzle reel at the American Film Market. AFM is a film industry event where films are sold, financed and acquired. The movie being present at this event indicates Netflix has discontinued its involvement in it. Production is expected to begin in 2024 and have a theatrical release in early 2026.[2]
The movie is no longer moving forward with Netflix. It remains in development and is set to be released by Gaumont Animation independently.[3]
