My experience at Hicksville High School has been mostly positive. I am most involved in the fine arts departments. I spend a significant amount of time both in and out of school working on artwork wheter I am painting or drawing. Our schools art and music departments are two of the best at the school. Thus I feel I have been enabled to create great works of art through the resources and teachers at our school. However, other departments such as social studies and english are not nearly as involved with extracurricular activities, and student involvement in general. I would like to see either more oppurtunities to become involved in those departments. In addition there are many internal issues with the school and certain policies that can be easily adressed. For example, the bathroom policy is harmful to both students and teachers, and interrupts a normal flow of learning.
I haven't been in this school for a year yet, but so far it's pretty fun. Definitely get involved in clubs and be social, even if you're an introvert like me. It'll make high school all the more easier and enjoyable. I love how this school isn't too strict and you have your freedom. The worst part of my experience has to be the other kids. The school could definitely make the hot lunch better and take care of the school's smoking problem as well as student behavior.
I’ve been a student at this school since 10th grade and I would say I’ve had an amazing experience. This school has a lot of extra curricular activities, it has a lot of classes to choose from which I think is great for students who like to have classes based on their future careers. This school is very diverse and the teachers so very supportive and encouraging. I would say the lunch can be a bit better though. Overall I’m so glad that I got a chance to study here and will cherish the memories I made in this school forever.
